Use iMovie on mac to edit... get a mac

Considering most of the problems people are having are with codecs...

When I used source recorder for the first time I typed: startmovie mymovie avi in the right place bla bla bla... and drop-down menu appeared with codec etc... everything worked fine, but on my next 3 attempts: no drop-down, so when I finish I just get an empty file which, in explorer looks just like this:

heavy_v_turet (notice no avi extension!)

Im wondering, With the Release of Portal 2, Is video recording via Source Recorder still the same or have some thing changed?

Also can we flim in .bik now? Knowing about the Vgui now allowing bik videos.
