I'm not quoting this specifically to soap-box at you, Makh, but just this whole mentality in general. I don't get all this criticism for Rastifan. He's got obvious talent, very clear commitment and yet the only difference is he posts different kind of content.
I disagree, I've seen some of his normal poses and in my opinion they're generally pretty stiff, boring, unimpressive with sub-par editing. He just hides it by drawing attention away with overzealous cleavage.
It has to involve actual sex for that. Hence the term "sex" pose. Two semi nude women sitting on a bed kissing is not a sex pose.
On a local beach here a woman was sunbathing topless. Her boyfriend said something to her, laughed and kissed her. Did they just have sex?
Yeah but you got banned for a pose very similar to this awhile ago.
FP has in general a young crowd and this is the reason for the negative feedback to erotic material. Simple as that. It is not criticism, just a fact.
Or maybe because it's a non nsfw sub-forum and generic naked females sex, cleavage etc. etc. is well generic :v:?
though I do admit generic gm_construct dark room holding a gun looking off screen poses (what I dislike) get quite a bit of attention, mainly positive too.

Stiff? Like this? http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/352/e/8/jill___mileena_street_brawl_crossver_by_rastifan-d4jj43k.jpg
And is Jill's ass in any way ruining the pose? Perhaps I should have censored it?
Stiff? Like this?

The pose look unnatural, the background is boring. Lighting too forced (probably only there to bring attention to jills ass anyway). So yeah, I don't like it either. Terrible ang- oh wait this was made to emphasize jills ass.
See it's hard to ask the unbiased question "And is Jill's ass in any way ruining the pose?" when the picture was built around it.
Stiff? Like this? http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/352/e/8/jill___mileena_street_brawl_crossver_by_rastifan-d4jj43k.jpg

There's a lack of motion on both characters, with the one on the left having sorta broken looking shoulders and overall being posed awkwardly.
The background is also quite boring and dead looking, since I assume it's supposed to be a back alley of some sorts you could have had some trash, dumpsters etc. in the background.

If that's a fact, I'm President Barack Obama.
FP has in general a young crowd and this is the reason for the negative feedback to erotic material. Simple as that. In either case, I'm glad you do it for fun, but this - the fighting, the hate - can't be very fun to you. Measuring your audience beforehand can be helpful; if you think that they will react negatively to it and don't want the hassle of discussing that, it's not a bad idea to just not release it there.
Mind you, I'm not saying you should censor yourself or anything. I'm just giving you advice that I've learned before myself. If the crowd is wrong, you're not gaining anything from it. Plus, from what I know, you have your own forum more oriented towards this sort of stuff.
from what I know, you have your own forum more oriented towards this sort of stuff.
Yes DigitalEro. I originally created the place as a alternative to FP when Garry shut down the Sex pose thread. But it became much more than that.
A lot of talented modelers joined me there and now we are as much about model making as adult poses.

I respect building your own community for your subject of greater interest; I myself have pondered and debated with a few others the subject of creating a new comics forum, since Facepunch now no longer has a section for it and the crowd is more focused on screenshots. I wouldn't compete, nor even try to, with Facepunch, but it could complement it, same as yours. In your case, it means not having to put up with hate.
why not just go to paheal, where you're wanted
go batman, save the neckbeards from their expanding balls or something idefk
I myself have pondered and debated with a few others the subject of creating a new comics forum
We have a comic section on my forum, but that is not a bad idea. A forum dedicated to comics. I would certainly join such a community.

While I'm neither young - well, I am young, but not that young - nor have any problem with erotica, it's not really what I'm looking for in a GMod forum.
And yeah, I don't want to go off-topic too much, but it's been in the cards. Waxx was messing around with such an idea, but he's not seeing himself investing money for a license right now. I may as well start work on a Metrocop.net forum this Summer, although I'll probably use freeware, like Zetaboards or something. I'm not sure if people would flock in, but it could be fun.
Anyway, my point was: don't let them affect you. As long as you're not breaking the rules, it's fine. I do wish there was more understanding for different preferences, but oh well, what can ya do.

No I meant a forum dedicated to comics in general. Not just erotic materials. Would be nice to have a place where the talented comic makes could present their work.
Screenshots are one thing, but good comic making is on a different level. I find it more interesting.
I'm late to the party, but this comic looks like it was edited in paint.
you didn't really try a creative way to add the text, it's just "there". that combined with the jpeg quality (aka none) makes this end up reminding me of some really bad sprite comics I used to make with square panels and no sense of flow or layout.

I won't delve too much into the comic, starting with the choice of models (bare skin in a winter wasteland for starters) to lightning and posing.
But instead will sort of speak against that. Generally speaking you will get the very opposite with the younger crowd. Younger teens eat direct erotic material massively up. (they also eat up guns, but thats a different thing) generally once you get older people, they get more annoyed though. In part because those people would prefer to keep stuff SFW unless they choose to view NSFW stuff due to a large number of reasons.

Wasn't exactly aiming for logic here. If you look at the other fantasy comics out there involving sexy women, they are often even more scantly dressed in the snow, wearing a metal bikini. Red Sonja comes to mind.
You can't read this stuff thinking "Hey that does not add up". Neither does Elf's riding giant lionesses. It is all fantasy. Read it as such. And I do explain why she dresses like that.
For the light, well The Age Of Chivalry maps are old and never had the best light for posing except for a few.
Another thing is that GMod isn't exactly plagued with quality fantasy themed models. Would love to use a properly fur dressed female barbarian for this comic if I had one. The lads over at DE is working to correct this.

I clearly remember one of Garry's arguments for closing the sex pose thread and some other adult oriented sub forums. Because of the generally young audience on FP.
Not saying everyone is a minor, I know better than that. But the general hostility towards eroticism on FP cannot be denied and I notice who is the loudest.
But Garry's decision was one of the best things that could have happen. Had he not done this, DigitalEro would probably never have seen the light of day
and a great number of quality models would never have been made.

Never was any good with proper comic layouts. I admit that. I go for the easy solution.

No excuses!
'Adult' theme aside, the posing is a bit wonky here and there, especially the background characters in the first scene, the lighting overall is rather bland, the layout is just... bad, and tilting the camera in every shot doesn't make the pictures look any more interesting.
Uuuhhh it was meant as series of pics describing a rough world for women (hence the rough graphic style) trough a series of texts ending in a scene warm and soft as a contrast to the former panels.
Almost everyone on the other sites got it. But not here. Not on FP.
Now let this thread die.
If you hate FP so much, why don't you stick to doing your stuff on your OWN forum?

You're just making it too easy really. Since right now you are basically telling us that jpeg compression and wonky posing points at the plight of warrior women in skimpy clothing in far off north.

Listen wraithcat. We are GMod posers. We have no business meddling in serious comic making. GMod was never made for graphical splendour. It was meant as a sandbox game.
Try as we might, Gmod will never be taken seriously in the serious comic community, so let's stop pretending my comics try to be so and read it as light hearted fun and be content with that.

That's like, one of the worst excuses I've ever seen for wonky posing and jpeg compression. "Oh, I don't really need to try, because ~SERIOUS COMIC MAKERS~ won't take it seriously anyway!". That's like, just, no. Wrong. Plain wrong.
Gmod wasn't made for graphical splendour, no shit - that's what the engine is for. And with the right use of the engine within Gmod, you can make graphical splendour. You just have to TRY. The entire point of a sandbox is to MAKE WHAT YOU WILL. If someone gives you the UDK and says "here, go do whatever you want", you might spend your time for a while going around making dicks in a mountain or something, but sooner or later, you'll get used to the engine, and you will start working with it. You'll exploit it. And then you'll make something that may well be taken as not being from the UDK at all.
The same thing can happen with gmod. There are quite a few gmod poses mistook as SFM shots, for example - but they're not. They're the clever use of visual tricks, console commands, great posing and lighting, and masterful post-processing, that works to create an image that does not look like it comes from where it comes from at all.
Just because something is "light hearted and fun", doesn't mean that you should skimp on detail or quality. I don't skimp out on any detail regardless of what I'm posing, because more detail, and more attention, means better pose or comic, which means better than half-assing.
rastifan why are you so self righteous like srs
so everyone (including rastifan) agrees the comic is pretty shitty. why post it here, then? i don't get it.
