Fed up with how slow his work was coming along, rocket scientist Al Sorovo left his job at NASA. Feeling his genius was being wasted waiting for approval any time he thought of something new,
he sought out private funding to continue his work. To get any backing, however, his projects would need to be profitable. That's how his astronomical research station in orbit turned into a surveillance/information gathering station with
powerful telescopes and radar equipment; and later, under pressure from the backers, an R&D lab was built for weaponizing Sorovo's plans. Eventually what began as an endeavor to further scientific
progress turned into a small-scale PMC.

So, no doomsday weapons or anything on the station. Its purpose is to serve as a research lab and info gathering facility (products of which are for sale to other factions) away from the prying eyes of any government. Because of the costs involved running this station OSS has only a relatively small amount of contractors with mismatched equipment, sometimes antiquated.
I can provide extra security for your research stations. Gotta keep you safe from the big bad monsters out there.
