His attitude shouldn't make a difference. The only reason I hold back from being even harsher than him is because I don't have the time or the patience to argue people into submission.

If someone's being a dick, it doesn't make their criticism any less valid. In fact, it usually makes it more valid than the politically correct, softly-softly pussies who think everyone should be complimented and spoon-fed shallow congratulations for smearing a piece of shit on some paper and calling it art.
