DC-3's are easily one of the coolest aircraft out there. They're just beautiful.
I fly them in FSX almost all the time :v:
Same, as practice :D. Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed they were cheap until I looked into them. WWII surplus drop versions are even cheaper, at ~90,000. My father wants me to fly his business trips, which is how I got him to pay for flight school, and he wanted a business plane, as it wasn't very business-owner esque to show up on loaded 737's, though it is a small business. Turns out the DC-3 serves our purposes perfectly, and is cheap, and beautiful. Therefore its very likely I'll wind up flying one, which would be a very early childhood dream come true.
Aww, I wished I could make stuff like this. [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline] test

I like everything except the turret. It just looks too edgy.

And yeah, on a DC3, maintenance will be a bitch. I'd go turboshaft conversion, myself; more expensive at first, but greater reliability. Yeah it's not the same, but from experience, turbines require very little maintenance and have a stunningly long lifespan (for an idea, if the average 1000hp-range turbine was a car engine, based on hours to mileage at mean speed and average operating rpm, they would have an average lifespan of about 600,000 miles and maybe 1/5th as many parts). I worked for an airline repairing everything there because the mechanics are lazy bastards and don't do shit. And how fucking rich is your family here? :wtc: [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline] 60mph X 10,000 hour lifespan = 600,000 mile engine life. Turbines are "broken down" every 5,000 miles average (they pop the case, check and make sure everything's still running right, no fatigue, etc.), and the minimum lifespan is around 10,000 hours. There are turbines built in the 1950s, with old 1950s metallurgy, and they still run now without total rebuilds. I've seen original 737 engines still running without anything replaced on them except for a few bearings. Insanely long lifespan.
I agree with RedReaper, buy new engines for it once you have it [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline] You're probably quite rich since you can afford planes :v: [editline]3rd June 2011[/editline] Talking about planes in Cipher's warthog thread :wtc:

Nice plug lol Back on topic, I've actually been thinking about doing what you did with the wheels, using rangers and applyforce to simulate wheels realistically. Garrys mod wheels just suck balls, to be honest (I'm sick of being at 40mph and hopping around like mad), though I don't use holos. I was thinking maybe parented wheels would do the trick, just parented to an RPM-governed chip, but doing the force with each wheel's grip being simulated individually (so if I have 2 wheels on the ground, it'll behave like a real car would with 2 wheels on the ground.

I once made a warthhog with realistic steering and full suspension (of lego), it worked brilliantly, but my father destroyed it by sitting on it :(. had a million different colours though, looked hippie.

I still have some completed models somewhere (all aircraft, go figure, aside from a few subs) My sandbox history goes like this Lego--> Lego Creator--> Lego-->Gmod/minecraft
Lego--> More Lego--> Building stuff out of scrap parts--> GMod--> derp, idk
Lego --> CAD --> scrapyard --> Gmod [editline]4th June 2011[/editline] --> more scrapyard & gmod
Lego --> CAD --> scrapyard --> Gmod [editline]4th June 2011[/editline] --> more scrapyard & gmod
then real life
Lego --> CAD --> scrapyard --> Gmod --> more scrapyard & gmod

then real life
Scrapyard = going to the local scrapyard, pulling shit out, seeing what you can put together. Doesn't get more "real life" than that. For instance, last month I built an electric water pump from a car alternator and a two-stroke motor.
Lego --> CAD --> Gmod --> scrapyard
fixed then :geno:
wish I had a scrapyard nearby... my history: lego --> more lego --> gmod --> lego Universe --> gmod
wish I had a scrapyard nearby... my history: lego --> more lego --> gmod --> lego Universe --> gmod
Lego Universe is a disappointment :smith:
when i was 11 i think i watched balto the movie, good shit
when i was 11 i think i watched balto the movie, good shit
Rated you agree because you're right. Except for the sequels... ugh
I love random pointless bumps. They're so fun.
I love how every thread I post in gets derailed. It's so fun.

When i spawn this a lag aloooot, any clues why, it seems to be with anything made of holos.
