There's something about the lack of any sound apart from the collision sounds in the video that is oddly hilarious
I like my tracks smooth, HEAR THAT WOMEN?
btw you can get rid of those sounds, or atleast lessen them by making the cart and track phys properties rubber

Eugh! The rubber collision sounds are a bit less annoying, but I am pretty sure that sticky surfaces will NOT help the cart slide along. Call me insane, but I think the better material would be super ice and making a cart with wheels instead of just the box.
I know how to make a smooth riding cart that uses wheels instead of a solid part. It is dead silent and takes any turn very smooth. But I love the jerkiness and the noise, reminds me of the old wooden coasters.
Surprisingly XQM's tracks work perfect with a 6 way wheel system just like in real life, even if it doesn't look it. If you're wondering how to make it, play with Right Click Axis.
Very impressive. cant wait until you post another one
if not then im sure ill still have fun breaking my friends and my own neck on this coaster
Another idea I've been toying around with is a completely gravity powered roller coaster. It worked well with the roller coaster tracks but a lot of the time there was just a loss of energy in some turns and such.
So I thought of making it free like a bobsled. And with the speed limit raised to around 210 mph you can really get good momentum now.

This video is just a start. There are a lot more things you can do with this. I might make a real good one soon.
One of the best (and hardest) things you can do with this is design the track just right so the sled almost falls off the track or comes up off of it, but not quite. For that "EEEEP!" feeling.
Its been 2 months, just make a new thread..
I hope this never gets played in multiplayer, you sick bastard. You water board and bludgeon the riders several times during the ride!
Other than that, looks real fun. Will ride in SP.

Really, really nice man!
I have a suggestion for you: Re-using tracks. You know when you make those free-air jumps in the video, you could make so a jump has like 2 landing spots, one for low speed and one for high speed if you know what I mean.
At my six flags, there's a coaster that shoots you off at 75 mph, Forgot the name.
Is it Kingda Ka..?
The track was good until the invisible tracks (including the one into the water), and Moss hitting her arms at 2:11
Nice work here, though.
Lolz very very nice :D
Here is my coaster I made called "The Neckbreaker"

Includes 2 runs. Be sure to watch in HD
Install directions: Extract folders to your C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\YOURNAME\garrysmod\garrysmod folder and merge with existing folders. Everything you need for it (except phx) is in the pack. Map included with permission from Xhizors!
How to use : The save is the easiest and it is all ready to ride! Just go to Load game and it will be called gm_xhizors with a picture looking at a cart and the start of the track. Start it up and the cart will be at the top of the platform high in the air. Hop in!
There are also two advanced dupe files included. Just load up gm_xhizors map and adv dupe paste the coaster with "Paste at Original Location" checked on. Then paste the cart at original location as well. Only use the dupe for the gm_xhizors map as it is made only for it, and you will miss a lot of it on any others.
Keypad controls:
1 is a realistic speed of around 75 MPH.
2 is the maximum safe speed averaging around 115 MPH.
3 is a Boost! WARNING! Use of the boost means you agree to the ToS of riding "The Neckbreaker" and waive the right to live. Don't use it!
0 is for reverse.
I had fun making it and I learned a lot of tricks. If there is an interest, I can make a tutorial video. With some tricks to build faster and better. And how to make a realistic cart and coaster that works just like the ones in real life with wheels and rails. I grew up with the wooden roller coasters so I like the jolty getting beat up feeling I use on this coaster. But a wheeled and rails one is just as easy and is very smooth riding.
I encourage people to make their own and modify mine as much as they want. Check out some of the areas I did for some ideas. You could wire it so you could have 5 going around at the same time automatically stopping to let people in/out or whatever. Make your own custom cart. Go nuts!
Thanks to x-quake for the XQM roller coaster models and Xhizor for the map.
