I just actually found another way a few days ago to do this: TB's duplicator. It's a duper that's still in development, from what I can tell, to overcome shortcomings in adv dupe (the notorious dupe-rape). One of the side effects is that it undoes the parenting of something. I can dupe something with it and it is effectively unparented while retaining all previous properties except for nocollide-all. Just thought I'd share that.
That's the first bump in the contraptions section I've seen in ages that actually has great content

That's not good. A duplicator which doesn't keep it's parented props parented sucks. Make a proper duplicator, and an un-parenter instead.

I'd agree. TBdupe has incredible potential, but it should have an option to keep or unparent parenting. That and the nocollide-all.

For dicks sakes I meant a normal duplicator with nocollide-all fixed. Of course un-parenting isn't acceptable
