Is there any way to effectively reduce the original lighting in a map, so you can use your own?
I recall there being one on the BDU when it was still a thing.

Not really, but if you play around with color correction and just brighten your lamps, you should be able to come up with something.

Yeah, that's for rooms without lighting already. I'm using a map that has existing lights.

I remember there was a mod that changed fog values to turn day into night. Maybe something like that.

Actually, I've been lua coding for a while recently. One of the things I found capable to change is the global brightness/darkness of a map. Would anyone want me to create a type of addon that allows you to do this?

I found a fog entity that I used to change the brightness. Set near and far fog to 0, colour to black, increase thickness to ~95. Then add your own lighting. Some decals like the grass things in that image will stay black, but for the most part, it gets the job done.

The way the addon will work is that it will change brightness of the map like it's actually dark on a night time map. (able to use flashlights/lamps/lights normally without having to crank up the brightness up in the hundreds)
The fog method is always tricky to do, in my opinion.

Plus the fact that not all maps have fog enabled by engine specifications, so the fog won't always work.

Awesome! Yeah, the fog method took me a bit of tinkering to get working right. I'd love to try out the addon when it's ready.
