It looks pretty nice, pretty distinquishable.
What's it say on your hoodie though, "Abominable Birdies?"
Abominable Putridity. Close enough :v:

Recommendations / Criticism? First REAL actual perskin that I'm happy with. Still got a bit of work to do rigging / texture wise.
That hoodie alone is worth the winner

The mask looks like it's wearing a hood, but it doesn't match the color of your actual hoodie? It confuses me :V
Regardless, I like it.
Most people here are probably going to be nicer about this than I am, but let me level with you straight here and now and I mean this in the most honest way possible with no pretense of discouraging you from your work. It's good that you're making your own model, but there's a lot more wrong with it than just textures and rigging.
The textures need to go, the band shirt bit can stay. There's far better quality hoodie meshes out there you can find if you just go digging through the XNALara customs page on dA or by simply sifting through ported game assets within Facepunch's own modelling section.
Secondly, you need to work on blending the meshes together because those arms look god awful. The forearms just jut down into the backs of the hands and it doesn't look even remotely natural or even human for that matter.
While we're on the topic of meshes, the stalker hood and gasmask doesn't fit the rest of the model's appearance, it looks like you cut the head off a stalker model and just kinda jammed it onto a modified HL2 citizen body, the visual styles don't match up well at all. This could be fixed if you found a better gasmask and a better hoodie mesh to use/modify to get a similar result.
tl;dr - No offense, but that model needs more than just some fixed textures and rigging. Right now it just looks like one of those terrible model hacks that can be found on TnB and any community that uses TnB's content.
just my two cents
I'm pretty sure we don't strive for perfection here, if he wants his perskin to look like that, he can do so, if he wants to improve as you so modestly put it, then i'll step aside, but atm, not even gonna lie, we've been through a majority of years of shitty skins before it all had to become perfect
we're not building a game here, just having fun yo.
At this point my skills range from minor photo-shopping to choppy headhacks, anything beyond that I fuck up and do terribly with, but I'm going to be improving and practicing along the way.
and yes it actually was a TnB model. you should've seen how pointy those elbows were.

This coming from the guy that doesn't keep a skin longer than a week before skipping to a new one.

Just an opinion, man, no need to start anything.

Just sticking up for new people since nobody did that for me when I joined.
Just an opinion, man, no need to start anything.
Of course. We're all entitled to one.
I was just giving mine.

That really wasn't an opinion, infabbio
Body from Tacoandbanana?
Yep, the rigging is pretty fucked up but it had the arms I wanted and it looked easy enough to skin.
I'm not expecting perfection, but there's a lot of room for improvement with that model. As I said at the beginning of the post, I'm not trying to discourage him from continuing with the model.
He doesn't need to change the whole appearance, but I was making suggestions on using better mesh assets to get the same look but with a overall better appearance. If he doesn't want to change it, then that's his prerogative, but that doesn't mean people can't make criticism about it.
He asked for recommendations/criticism. I gave it, I don't see why I'm suddenly holding people to an impossible standard when I made suggestions right in the post on what he could do to improve the overall look of the model without deviating far from the original vision.
That really wasn't an opinion, infabbio
Allow me to elaborate, then.
Advice from you should be taken with a grain of salt since you lack the ability to maintain a constant perskin for longer than a week before ditching it entirely and getting a new one.
-hearts-
I'm not criticising your criticism, I mean, sure, criticism is always helpful, and you were, don't get me wrong, I'm just saying, sure he could improve it, but the fact that it seems like you're drilling him
ofc though, it's like nineteen eighty-four here nowadays, and although I don't like speaking for people unless they've directly aske dme too, I'm sure Everest is grateful for the help.

But acquiring and ditching a perskin is a completely different subject to hacking and porting models, therefore, you're criticising me, rather than my opinion.
Again, not trying to start shit, just pointing something out.
Sorry if I came off as drilling him, but I find that mincing words and sugarcoating things when it comes to criticism is far more damaging to a person's process of learning than just going "lol it sux" or "good job m8 looks gr8"
What I mean is, I'd rather someone be straight forward with me and honest about what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it, than to try and pander to my feelings and completely mush up the intention of the criticism and thus making it much less effective or even detrimental to my learning process.

I'm just voicing my opinion. Advice from you is potentially worthless given your past history with perskins. Most of your skins that WERE hacked together were done so by others, and you still didn't keep them. Always looking for that perfect skin, I guess.
Trust me, you'll never find perfection. There's always something to improve upon. I agree with what Grue said above, but you are really not the kind of person that should give this new guy advice on the matter of perskins. Especially when a good chunk of the thread despises you and wishes you hadn't come back. But you're your own person. Do what you wish.
Can we like... not do this shit again please?
Here, here take a screenshot just don't start this shit again.

Should have shot him in the head... Just to be sure.
All of my skins to date were done generously by others, does it also mean my advice would be worthless?
I know you are just voicing your opinion on the matter but I just don't get how him having gone through a number of perskins that were done by others would make his advice worthless.
Besides that what he said is on the same line as what you said in-regards to perfection and never finding it.
Your skin has changed relatively little from what I've seen. He's changed skins so many goddamn times it isn't funny.
As for what I said about perfection, he did state that he's pretty sure 'we don't strive for perfection here'. Clearly he does if he has to go change skins that many times, completely ditching what he had before.
But whatever. This is just my thoughts on it, and like I said before, do what you wish.
