All that sand is an effect so it gives me vampire shadows.

Problems I've found:
1. His face is a literal checkerboard.

[url=https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/$detail]$detail textures most likely[/url], they aren't perfect, but they do a good job, if used correctly. You can usually look at the VMTs of a model that has it and pull it from there and apply it to your own.

I decided to try my hand at a head (and more) hack. And after downloading a trial of 3ds Max and going through much trial and error, this is what I came up with after three nights of staying up until 2am. I was inspired by a casual version of Haxxer's perskin.

I was proud of it right up until I realized I forgot the whole "skeleton" thing, and it's been pretty much downhill from there trying to get it to work as a ragdoll. Still learning how to properly set up the qc so it isn't stuck in the t-pose or turned into a horrific mass of stretchy parts connected to a body.
