• Fraps or Source Recorder?

Ok so anyways, when I type startmovie (name) raw, does it go to the demo recording, or does it do it in the background while i'm playing?
Like I said, Source Recorder is not related to the demo recorder IN ANY WAY it will just record in the background as you play, just like fraps

I was looking at a few different videos and I got confused, because some were using demo playback, and some were using startmovie.
Ok it's been like 2 hours, and it's still not done finishing a 20 second scene? its laggy as hell, so i figured it hasnt been done yet.

I did raw, and I'm going to use VirtualDub. I downloaded good codecs if i change my mind. [editline]04:27PM[/editline] Ok so it turns out, I was recording the screen i left there for 2 hours, when I put in consle, startmovie introcamera raw I dont understand why it recorded the normal screen?? I thought that when you /record (filename) thats what is going to be played, but im wrong I guess. Im sorry for having such trouble understanding this, i think i got it now. [editline]04:35PM[/editline] I was having trouble between sorting out Demo playback commands, and source recorder itself. I have it down now.
startmovie begins the recording. STARTMOVIE <NAME OF THE FILE> <TYPE OF THE FILE> eg. startmovie lolrecord raw, startmovie recording tga endmovie ends it once again, demos are completely unrelated to the source recorder, there's just a LOT of confusion between these two because of some tutorials on the web associating these tools
The Source Recorder whatever is on screen, that includes GUI elements if you're not careful [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puJ5lMDBAC8[/hd]
wow max, big fail on your part.
wow max, big fail on your part.
Well, I had cranked up the rendering quality to the maximum, and a Windows / Gmod limitation basically makes it impossible to see what is rendering if a certain frames takes more than a certain amount of time to render (I think it's 6 seconds)
thanks everyone, finally recorded some cool looking scenes, but nothing extreme. [editline]07:58PM[/editline] Well my first project was a big fail. I hosted 60 fps, because I was going to put it in Slo-mo, half frames, 30fps. So anyways, After i exported it with Virtual dub, the frame rate was set to match audio output, 60fps, and when I previewed the clip, which was 1.5gb, even with the UT RGB Codec. It was laggy as shit, and the audio is out of sync, though I selected it to be in sync with the video duration. Not sure what is up with that.
VirtualDub's preview isn't really reliable as far as I know Especially for a 60 fps clip
VirtualDub's preview isn't really reliable as far as I know Especially for a 60 fps clip
I'm talking about as an .AVI file. When I viewed it, it was quite laggy. But oh well, it was probably because it was 60 fps. I'm working on something else and it's going quite well.
when you play your clip on virtualdub it will be laggy but when you get your final product it will be smooth.
Yes, i viewed it in the media player, it had spikes. I could upload it, but it's too big of a file right now.
