i have yet to receive my 10 dollars dick hole
ahahahaha for the car thing stuff thing. I remember that. aaaaah. Feels dauuym good cause Karbine sent me your 10 dollars. :smug:
Cantido, for some reason the server is not responding to the password swap. I have set it all up in the server.cfg. Anyway, the password that it is stuck at is "poophead". Not very official but, who gives a tit. [editline]01:17AM[/editline] If I am understanding you properly, than yes. Pretty much the "engines" spin the fin propellers, and the entire engine and propellers can adjust angle? If so awesome, if not, just show me. It is late, have headache.
like that. i control each engines' rpm to control pitch and roll, and they tilt by hydraulic to go forward or hover (which this thing is currently failing in my face, but the failure is somehow fun)
poophead worked for me. :)
Are you still controlling with engine rpm in lateral flight? It makes sense in a hover, but rotating the nacelles would be a whole lot more responsive.
Competitions always fail no matter how well they are planned.
Only on http://www.facepunch.com

^ Voteban ^ Thats all good Karbine. Just as long as there are spinning fin propellers in those.

^I lol'd^ :v:
here is my omnicar wip I have the necelles set up but not functioning yet (ballscokets and such)
Pretty sweet. Make sure it is in the size limits. From the picture it looks a little large.
Pretty sweet. Make sure it is in the size limits. From the picture it looks a little large.
hmm, forgot about those, but if it isnt, im finishing it anyway. its epic. Its an omni minivan!
I tell you what, fins are frustrating as hell.
I tell you what, fins are frustrating as hell.
Very. Anyone care to share a fin-simulating e2?
Very. Anyone care to share a fin-simulating e2?
...fin tool?
...fin tool?
Yes the fin tool is very useful, but I don't really want to spend hours messing with efficiency and other settings to get it working just for it to fail when I go on a different server :\
But the competition says you need fins :|
This is all why I made a fin competition. It is not nearly as easy as it may seem. Fun stuff.
have you built anything with the fin tool, evan? i'm just curious.
have you built anything with the fin tool, evan? i'm just curious.
Yeah I made a big ol' flying platform thing that used fins for lift and propulsion.
I think I'm going to try again. I want to use 6 fin engines in my design. Two pointing straight forward for propulsion. The other 4 engines will use an axis to roll forward or upward depending on what I need. I love Adv. ballsocket now. I'm going to have to -100 easy precision some tile turbine engines, though. It's the only way I can think of compacting 6 engines into a 3x3x4 design.
have you built anything with the fin tool, evan? i'm just curious.
Why yes, yes I have. Most of the things I build contain fin in some aspect of the build. Right now I am working on the OmniCar and I have it almost working.
I've never made anything with fin tool... but I'm not interested in making aircrafts anyway :v:
Why yes, yes I have. Most of the things I build contain fin in some aspect of the build. Right now I am working on the OmniCar and I have it almost working.
I didn't know bridges need fin tool
I didn't know bridges need fin tool
hahaha :buddy: bridges need some aerodynamics so they don't get destroyed in hurricanes you know :v:
I succeeded in my first micro fin engine today. It's 5 am tho. I'll work on the a full build later.
I love fin and fin propultion, but where it gets hard is maintaining stability while lifting large loads.
I love fin and fin propultion, but where it gets hard is maintaining stability while lifting large loads.
I wanted to use gyroscopes to let me know if I'm leaning to far in any direction so that I could move the power toward where I need it to maintain stability. I think my only problem right now is balancing everything out perfectly.

I think my only problem right now is balancing everything out perfectly.
Fin can often by sluggish to respond to RPM changes. It may work better if you ajust the prop feather (collective) also, if RPM drops too low, sometimes the propeller begins autorotating in reverse under the gravity of the contraption, and this can be very hard to escape.

If I have to, I'll break my no-thruster rule to use actual gyro stablization but I really don't want to break that rule. If I can get the whole contraption to fly, then I will be happy. Right now, I've tested steering, suspension, and floating with the design I want to use with success. I've also tested how I'm going to change the engines from facing forward to facing upward. My last concern is making it look nice. I haven't even thought about making it look pretty....
