That's because most Gmod videos are the same. No one makes anything new and all of them use the same dry humor that the next one uses, it gets boring. If people actually worked toward quality videos and not this...crap, we might actually have something to enjoy. Not that all of them were supposed to be funny but you get the idea, they are all the same. The only effects you guys know how to use are filters and greenscreen.
Kurit, fuck off. No-one asked for your opinion in this thread but you gave it, fair play. But then you just kept trolling. You need to take your keyboard, turn it sideways and ram it up your stupid cunt ass. No-one likes you, nor do they value your opinion.

You've been banned for trolling three times. Apparently you can't handle constructive criticism either.

http://s230.photobucket.com/albums/ee252/Mendelevius/?action=view&current=RPIscene1.mp4 I haven't done any humour genre video's and don't plan to. Can you state any more effects that can be used apart from filters and green screen? I'll tell you one masking/cropping. MY point is who are you to say that, THAT is all we can do? sure the video's show that but that does not represent that is all we know. After all I would guess that you don't know much about Vegas either. Fair point?

The part with Alyx is a great referece. In regards to your first sentence on your second paragraph: Yes, that really is all you guys do, greenscreening and filters. If people actually spent time on animating, rigging, real effects, and if everyone actually used film software then we might actually get somewhere. All I see are these "Beaver fUSION" looking videos. This "Water, it's good for you" humor makes me sick. I don't know, mabey it's the flawed disorganized broken, measures that you guys use to film. Every video is a copy of a copy of copy and guess what? That would be okay if you actually learned something or progressed in your techniques. It would be okay if every video wasn't ragdolls being thrown and orgasmic facial expressions being applied to every character. Mabey it's the age group. Whatever it is, I encourage people to try new stuff, what you guys are doing just isn't working. What's new? [editline]07:28PM[/editline] Oh yeah, I know just about everything about Vegas. It's a simple program with limited cookie-cutter effects. I know it enough to say it sucks.

What happened to the good old days when people were innovative? Where they actually tried to make something of quality. Now it's a bunch of - sorry - 12 year olds making remakes of "The Idiots of GMod" and it get's boring. Sure the first couple remakes were funny now after the thousandth one it's not. It is the age group, a lot of the people making these videos are under the age of 15. Not a lot of innovation coming from that age... (School system does that to you) People take the easy route (flailing ragdolls) towards making videos and don't spend the time that is needed to make a really good video. Knowing that yes some people aren't going for quality they are just trying to be funny and that is where a story comes in. You can't just have a bunch of random clips of you shooting watermelons and blowing up zombies. That just doesn't fly. Hey I like comedy, Robin Williams is amazing, but listening to someone scream on the mic well a ragdoll is thrown around is not. Sure if done right it can be funny, "can" but that is only if people take the time to actually work on it. I have seen some great stuff come out, but most of the stuff has no real worth while value to it. But you guys really need to stop attacking Kurit, he really is only trying to help. If you don't want constructive criticism don't ask for it. I will admit sometimes he may act like a now it all, but sometimes that is needed to get the point across. And seeing as he is one of the only people trying to help you guys I say you take it.

The Age group in this community is a growing problem. I've been trying to encourage people to move away from the cheap jokes and film methods but they just seem too content with the same old crap. I've been in this community for a good amount of time, long enough to notice the constant stream of bad jokes and repetitive video sequences. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good "Louis Peels" joke every now and again but the jokes told are said without the slightest bit of quaility humor. (Not that "Peels here" is.) From what I said earlier, it's not just the jokes, it's the serious attempts that end up being laughable. I'm talking about the Gmod videos that are supposed to be dramatic. My video "Alyx VS L4d" was supposed to be serious believe it or not. People thought it was funny and I came to the realization that Gmod is just too flawed for serious work. What happens when you can't be serious or "not serious?" What do you have left? Let me answer that, you have Repetiton A perfectly placed word in this situation. If people devoted their time to quaility we would have a great film community. I have devoted my time to learning real 3D film techniques, animation and special effects. Kurit, what are you trying to say, are you trying to say that all videos made by people using garrysmod that try to comedic are bad? I don't understand
Kurit, what are you trying to say, are you trying to say that all videos made by people using garrysmod that try to comedic are bad? I don't understand
Movies that try usually don't make it so yes. I'm generally saying Gmod movies are bad, so basically yes. I am a sucker for hard work. I love to see a movie that someone spent a lot of time on. I usually hate videos that contain lame jokes and are too short to keep keep my attention. I hated Yami's video. It's that kind of humor that I can't stand.
Kurit just leave the fucking thread already, you ignorant piece of shit downer. Whilst some of your points may or may not be true there's no need to sit on your high horse like you've done anything better than us, until you've proved otherwise don't come back to this thread. Oh and don't take my quotes out of context, it just makes you look retarded.

I mean the guy makes custom animations for each scene.

The lame jokes that follow the whole flailing ragdoll style is what you dispise. If this is what you're saying, for once I must say I agree with you. But in the coming years, there are going to be alot of videos that reflect the idea of hard work. We're currently in a revolution: You know what it is? Custom animations. In about a year, machinima will not be good unless it has custom animations. Anybody who denies this is a fool. I may have gotten a little sidetracked, but that had to be shared. But there will always be videos like this, or Gmod Idiot box. This is an undeniable fact. So rather fight it, you should just live with it and await the great stuff to come. Think about all of the great artists...the creators of Ultrahouse, Max of S2D, and (Jesus, i'm taking a stab in the dark here) Maybe even fucking scoutking. My other point is not to lose hope in machinima, or gmod machinima: It will always be here aslong as gmod is here, and it's getting better every year. But another thing, if this post didn't sway you and you still dislike GMOD and it's community, I have to say you're in the wrong neighborhood.
What do you mean?
machinmas a great way to be introduced into film. I mean lets make a example. Lets say I start making machinma, and I want to know how to face pose and animate from stock animations to custom. I learn these skills so now, I can use these skills I learned in a similar field. Think of machinma as training wheels for CGI/Other aspects of film.
its going to be dumb'd down and die off, or the community is going to tear its self apart.
I respect your opinion, but I must comment on something. Facepunch is not the entire machinima community. Facepunch will definately die off, it's just a matter of time, nothing lasts forever. But machinima in it's own will never die. Atleast not for a very, VERY long time.

You can look at both divisions of the community and see this. As the forum is getting more and more shitty videos and flame wars start more and more, and more and more trolls appear. Originality goes down the drain. Dasboshitt/unfunny videos become the norm

But machinima in it's own won't die for atleast acouple years As long as they're making games, machinima will be alive, IMO. I mean shit, there are so many platforms that are capable of machinima, not just gmod
You cant really say machinima will die off, theres always going to be new ways to make a original machinima. With the upcoming release of Portal 2 , its bound to be new machinimas involving portal 2 and garrysmod. Someone is always coming up with new original ways to entertain their audience. Pretty much what Faolco said. IMO I think the machinima community is getting much more mature with their videos and were not often seeing the huds, flailing ragdolls, thruster sounds, etc. Garrysmod machinima has come along way, and I doubt it will die off soon.

Online video Producers will likely last as long as Youtube lasts, popular internet and the film industry. More and more people are getting into cheap film development, right at the moment it will grow. The people amongst them that produce high quaility work will be the kings. Do I think it will die? No, it wont die, not for a long time. When we reach the peak of film creation, it will only get more popular.
Moving On eh? My HD Camcorder is coming through my post soon! getting excited! but I'll still make gmod video's. I enjoy making them.
