The FF are very detailed, more detailed than the source models. The reason they take up so much space is simply due to this fact. In comparison, the quaility of everything made is high poly, yes and has a higher resolution(Which is a good thing.) I have yet to have a problem working with these models in any way, neither do I think the same quaility work can be released and be compared with the quaility of his models and textures.
If I'm correct, his name is illuminati on other websites and his modeling work is unmatched to the modelers in this community. I also doubt that he would steel or have any reason to steel someone elses work.(Not counting the use of Valve Characters.)
Basicly saying: No Ross, just no.
They look like rubbish. FF is apparently too dumb to use normal maps so he ends up with ten times the polycount he should have. He uses at least four times the resolution he needs for textures simply because he does not have even the most basic understanding of how to optimise things while still retaining detail.
His 'modelling' is not only matched but surpassed by a great many people - several here and many score I know from other communities like CDG (don't bother registering there like, we actually have standards).
Basically saying: you don't know what you're talking about, as usual.
Background for the unenlightened: Kurit is the same genius who thinks texture resolution can result in 'stretching polys'. Anyone who has spent more than ten minutes in a 3D program and knows how a texture actually works will see the hilarity in this.
FakeFactory makes models, and I like to use some of them. That is all I care about.
Why or how he does it is of no importance. His female models are the best around, save for the horrible hands on some of them. (And where Alyx looks like a milf)
Any addition to GMod is a good thing and should be welcomed, not scorned. I know he ports some of the models from Poser. So does a lot of people.
As for his taste. Well, it is taste. Pointless to discuss. But I agree with rossmum on the size issue. They really don't need to be that big.

I work with these models and textures all the time, I used to make screenshots with them. No matter how close you zoom in to these models they always look good. I don't believe it's a matter of not understanding optimization. I have yet to see a more detailed model released. If you are aware of a highly detailed model that surpasses FF in both material work and model design I would like you to link me it.
Btw, Ross. I didn't think I would have to explain this error to you but since you're still going on about it, I have no other choice. The word I meant to say was pixels. I've been working with 3DS Max for so long I get them mixed up. I can't believe you're still holding on to that.
By the way, for anyone who doesn't know, he's refrencing what I said in the "Silent Hill Beast get a "Double kill" thread
-wait a minute, you got me side-tracked, what has that got to do with anything?

Rast knows what he's talking about.
Also first picture is now my desktop background. I love that picture.
I really need to learn to make water splashed like that.

Yay. Thanks :D
Rossmum, Kurit, can you two stop arguing for one thread?
Rossmum, Kurit, can you two stop arguing for one thread?
It's useless.
These guys will fight 'till end
-snip-
I am sure Mr.Shpigun don't like his thread kept on top like this.
Meh...
What do you mean Meh?... Nah just kidding:smug:
Wait, doesn't that involves layers and corrections so that the directions will fit with the movement of the entities ? It sounds easy.
I am sure it is, when I figure it out. Can use brushes to of course.
Rossmum, Kurit, can you two stop arguing for one thread?
I sure would if Kurit didn't gravitate to my posts like a fly to shit, quote them, make some immensely retarded and self-righteous argument, and generally try to make himself look better than me or anyone else here.
Go check the other threads, you'll find the same thing in every single one. The moment I post, Kurit shows up and the whole lot goes to shit.
Oh, and just for the sake of the current argument, no company in their right mind would hire FF because he is a terrible 'artist' and his processes are terrible. Sure 'his' models might look good to someone who doesn't do a whole load of modelling themselves, but to those of us who actually realise how shit is supposed to be done, it's just mind-blowing how wasteful and generally stupid his methods are. I can literally guarantee you that any even vaguely accomplished artist could produce better results in a fraction of the HDD space/res/polycount.
Also, Kurit, way to be wrong again. A pixel is a single unit which produces colour on a monitor or TV screen by way of producing red, blue, or green light (or any mixture of the above). It is physically impossible to stretch a pixel. Resolution is measured in pixels, but you cannot stretch them. The texture itself would be stretched.
My apologies to the OP, if I could actually force Kurit to fuck off and stop driving threads into the shitter I would.
No brushes! You just search up "water splash" (with black background).
Next up: move to on your screenshot in PS, use layer setting as "screen", and move to object (use erase tool to correct splash).

Please for the love of god tell me he's not THAT stupid.
Oh he is. Wait for the inevitable backpedal where he claims that's what he meant all along and I was just misreading his posts or whatever.
That's why OP need "Delete post" button
I mean I could cut some slack because of the way the word 'pixel' has been colloquialised to mean anything that is the size of one pixel (like aliasing in 3D applications, 1px brushes in Photoshop, etc), but holy fucking shit, even if I was to resize a 1px brush to 1024x1024 it would be the exact same thing but bigger. Given that you cannot go any smaller than a pixel, it's common dogfuck that it'll just be homogenous all the way through.

Alright. Thanks for the tip.
Or if you're a masochist like me, you can try drawing the entire thing in by hand!

You sir are mad. That is punishment. Not the joy of creating art.
When an image size is increased so are the size of its pixels. This is the concept I was explaining.

It's pixels aren't being stretched. It's stretched across more pixels to make larger.

Kurit, you need to get banned again. No trolling here, you honestly need to leave for a while. Everyone here is tired of your posts, if you could kindly take a break from Facepunch that'd be nice.
Ontopic, nice pics OP, the posing in the first one is spot-on.
