Sorry but you're a fool. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Dimensions#Map_Grid_Units:_quick_reference [editline]17th June 2011[/editline] Depth hud is wrong, wire is not.

Player sprint speed is 500 u/sec which is 37.879 MPH. If you don't account for 1 unit = 0.75 inches you incorrectly calculate it to be 28.409 MPH. I'm going to guess that Depth Hud rounds the value somewhere to make it come to 30 instead of 28, but either way it is wrong as it doesn't multiply your speed by 4/3 to convert from units to inches (1 unit = 3/4 inches so 1 inch = 4/3 units). Fucking automerge :argh:
@name @outputs Units MPH @persist E:entity if(first()) { E = owner() runOnTick(1) } Units = E:vel():length() Inches = Units * (4/3) # 1 unit = 0.75 inches so 1 inch = 1 and a third units MPH = 3600 * Inches / 63360 # 3600 seconds in an hour, 63360 inches in a mile
See for yourself.
i'll never be able to convince you but all this tells me is that you and wire is going by the fov dimension scale of off VDC which still only relates to scaling stuff correctly to player view when mapping. this discussion is pointless as you think that you are correct and can not be convinced otherwise. [editline]17th June 2011[/editline]
I also see we've brought up the old size conversion craziness.
and yes. seems like something f12bwth would bring up with his extreme zoooooooom-fov.

It's just so things appear the correct scale when playing. I know that it's to do with FOV etc, but what's the point in going by 1 unit = 1 inch when that only applies to character models and not the actual world itself? 1 unit = 0.75 inches is what's used for measurements in maps, so if you're talking about speed / distance it makes more sense to go by the scale used for maps rather than the player models. Also don't take the "holier than thou" stance when discussing something, it just makes you seem like a complete and utter tool when you say shit like "oh this is pointless because you don't listen look at me i'm so educated".

I'm thinking that this song: http://www.pown.it/5023 can be the official facepunch song.
I'm thinking that this song: http://www.pown.it/5023 can be the official facepunch song.
We need a longer clip, but yes. It seems fitting. I saw like 12 new posts...I expected at least some content, or something that made sense, or was relevant. At the very least some more poorly-drawn MS Paint images and ZP FOV drama.
Been lurking here for years but newer posted something practical and looking more than nothing at same time so this is my first trie. Been building it for a couple of weeks now, butit is still not done and looks crappy. Firs of all engines:tried a flat 8 piston thruster and was surprised as I could reach up to 75 Km/h (reminds my first engine powered car back in 2007 top speed was 17 MPH)with old wheels, power is about 800Hp test usually fails saying couldn't increas rotor mass so 800 is only aproximetily. With lua wheels it goes up to 100Km/h(60MPH). From 0 to 90 it does under 9 seconds. Also I tried changing engine with older model remade from Mr.Whites uploaded on YouTube. It's a hidraulic V8. Top speed is almoast same, but from 0 to 100 Km/h it does under 5 seconds. Also not sure about power here as usualy engine fails as I purt it on dyno. Also it goes 90+Km/h most of hils up, I think top speed is limited by engines curent max RPM. Second is suspension: full indipendent suspension as seen on Mr.Whites tutoral, but for steering I used hidraulics. Stays stable at 90+Km/h, for better steering I used some plates on wheels with fins. Total mass about 3700 kilos(engines are very heavy). Main design is bad but it is first time I build whole body for a car. Total above 150 props. Also, your English is more understandable than a lot of people's here.
1 unit = 0.75 inches is what's used for measurements in maps,
Majority of source mappers that I know use 1:1 inch to unit ratio simply because it's easier, thats why I use it. But at the end of the day, you're still arguing about about measuring speed in a video game.
If I could convert years into posts.
If I could convert years into posts ... that don't get archived. In that thread, my favorite quote of all would have to be:
I don't ever use someone else's dupes, I make* my own shit. I consider kafouille, popcorn, karbine, myself, dgig, and gunski pretty much the top gmod people on the net.
That Popcorn made the list and people like Sestze and Kyle didn't (or just that Popcorn made the list) is enough for me to say that the guy is a complete and utter dumbass.
Obvious troll was pretty obvious.
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=911319
Now that brings back memories :-p And yeah I'm still around; Hopefully I'll be getting back into gmod soon.
Just dropping this here : It's incomplete, and we need help decorating some spots. Anyone who wants to help just come to GGG servers and see if me or Max is around. We're on right now watching some riveting films.

You cant say that some people are the best. To say that you have to see every single person that ever played gmod.
