I feel as if the contraptions section has been destroyed. i don't see any posts about contraptions anymore and this thread has just been swallowed into the screenshots forum

Pretty much but we're obviously not getting the subforum back. A lot of legit counterpoints were made, mostly by balto, but we're still not in a good place. If garry hired up an active moderator dedicated to the gmod general section then we could get contraps back on track without it getting buried by help+support and fast thread shit, which would be completely acceptable imo.

He wants to show off whats possible in gmod and doesn't care if no contraptions are present (because he is garry). So screw that, head to this thread and post some nice artistically shot tanks and forts and planes and whatnot.

and one last thing, I mentioned that the "better half" of the section is accepting, but as you pointed out "stupid/silly/12-year-olds" do give us a bad rap, and we don't like them either, but all of us sometimes end up getting treated the same.

I hope that this section becomes more and more friendly to the fact that contraptions and screenshotsa re going to have to share space.

I don't see how they got the worse end of the deal. Comics and videos lost their subforum too and have no place to go anymore apart from here aswell.
Plus no matter how unfair you think it is, it's not our fault so quit the whole "doll poser" shit.

There's still no point in even trying to post here anyway. Garry will simply ignore us, and the thread will be dead within a day. I respect both posers and builders, but we really did get the bad end of the deal, no matter what anybody says. I've pretty much given up any hope in any contraption-based thread surviving and getting recognized. The mods never did anything about the shitstorms, aside from just locking the thread. This whole section is going to hell; it seems that everybody is biased against us, or outright ignores us, just like garry. There's not really a hope for recovery at all, so I think the best option for us is to outright leave and take our work elsewhere, as we aren't going to get any acknowledgement for anything we do, or if we do, it's going to be negative or ignorant. I've given up pretty much all hope in the section, because any time we try to recover, we just get shitted down until some asks why we've brought it up again, not to mention the fact that the screenshotters out number the contraptioneers, and while there are some that try to help us, the outlandishly elitist ones still outnumber the truly skilled contraptioneers trying to be heard. I still watch to see our section, and our playstyle dying.

It will be dead if we wont do anything and cry. Yeah the contraption subforum was a huge loss for everyone here, but we can still post here and keep this thread alive. If all of the contraption threads will die, then there will be no need to make a subforum. In my opinion this is the time we make a lot of AWESOME contraptions (No shitposing or 15minute contraptions) that this subforum will be spammed with contraptions and garry will have to get our subforum back.

if the thread dies after a day it just means there isn't any interest for the stuff posted, i still believe that if you post something awesome enough, everyone will post in the thread. and i also don't see why we can't combine posing with contraption building. you can make a sick tank/car/boat/plane/spaceship and then snap some pics that show it off in a good manner, slap some editing on it to make it more presentable and then throw it up here on fp. that'd appeal to both the contraptionists and the screenshot posers. this is at least what i'll be doing.
