how much do they hop?
how much do they hop?
To be honest, no clue, I haven't used them for anything. But their physics mesh is a 20 sided cylinder just like the phx wheels.
To be honest, no clue, I haven't used them for anything. But their physics mesh is a 20 sided cylinder just like the phx wheels.
I just tried them, they are fucking incredible! Did a quick wheel powered chassis with no suspension and they barely hop at all.
I just tried them, they are fucking incredible! I buildt a crawler with these tyres, and they climb just as good as the PHX wheels, if not better, and the wheel hop isn't noteworthy to about 140 Rpm.
finally figured out some working anti-roll bars. 25 ton dry weight truck + 25 ton cargo container, won't flip no matter how hard you drive it. it'll sit sideways on a damn 45 degree slope.
finally figured out some working anti-roll bars
Didn't you put roll bars on an old akare or something? Besides, they're not hard to do. Remote axis flat bar w/ elastics set to "stretch only"...that's been around since like 2007.
Engines have been around since the early versions of gmod and you've only just learnt those.
Gmod 5 - dynamite-powered engines. Aww yeeeeaaah. Starting an engine with an explosion. Yeeeeeeeeaaaah!
Amplar posted already something like this but i post it anyway. It's my 8x8 Tatra with half-axles inspired by ZE0SPantera's Tatra-Chassis. Still WIP but already working. The one with the camo is the model from the Military Model Pack. I think i rebuild it :)
they're lightweight bars that are ballsocket centered to each wheel and then limited to 7 degrees of roll from the frame.
I tryed something similar but was to counter wheel bounce. Do the ball-socket centers stretch at all?
I tryed something similar but was to counter wheel bounce. Do the ball-socket centers stretch at all?
no, that's why they have to be light weight. it increases stiffness, but really, you only need these rollbars on super heavy lifting vehicles anyways, so the added stiffness is good.
Engines have been around since the early versions of gmod and you've only just learnt those.
I was building engines with connas stools...the ones with the laser thing for timing, the little ranger dudes that trigger a number input...yeaaaahhhh... [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
uhh, they don't quite work that way. they're lightweight bars that are ballsocket centered to each wheel and then limited to 7 degrees of roll from the frame. its gotta be weak or else it wont let the suspension expand.
...not trying to be a dick, but that sounds like, ah, not the best way to do it. I was referring to one way of doing it, although the elastic method means you can have better travel. You can use the elastic method with a limiter to get a progressive spring rate as well, to help trucks ride better unloaded (after it hits a point of travel, it'll function as additional springs.
I've always used a different method for rollbars; low center of gravity. Usually just a bar that's 1-4 meters under the car and welded to the base prop. That will keep the car from rolling over even if it tilted 80 degrees.
That's some hokey bullshit right there. Not to say I never tried doing the same thing with walking contraptions.
It's not bullshit Sestze. [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] You gotta make sure you don't make the bar too heavy unless you want your car to act weirdly when climbing a hill.
You're adding a heavy bar that clips through the ground...? Bit of a brute force fix, I have to admit.
is there any tips on how to build a tank?
You're adding a heavy bar that clips through the ground...? Bit of a brute force fix, I have to admit.
Yes.
How do i use elastics effectively? As soon as i touch a prop with an elastic on it.. it turns into a raging ball of madness...
How do i use elastics effectively? As soon as i touch a prop with an elastic on it.. it turns into a raging ball of madness...
It has to weigh more than a piece of paper.
Yes.
I wasn't trying to sound harsh. I did the same when I was trying various walking things out as a way to keep the COM lower than the knee.
I've always used a different method for rollbars; low center of gravity. Usually just a bar that's 1-4 meters under the car and welded to the base prop. I still occasionally parent to a wire capacitor and make it weigh like 100 and noclip like fuck. 99% of the time manual rollbars just seem like more parts than worth it. Back in the day, it was important, but there's just better things out there now. You can do the same thing with hydraulics, adding and subtracting length based on the difference between one side and the other. Rollbars are kinda especially useful for me, since my vehicles typically have a very high COG and extremely long travel suspensions. My COG is usually above the top of the wheels.
It has to weigh more than a piece of paper.
Only if the damping is high. I recommend keeping it below 1500 or so, above that it starts to require extra weight to stop it launching your computer into the ceiling.
