Hey I saw you making this in Sax's, It looks nice, even though it did't work at the time, not properly anyway. Gj dude :P
I tweaked the expression now 2 days long... It should work properly^^
Btw, the completion date is the 1st of July, a fair way away, mainly because I have university exams starting soon until then, also I'm already finding this hard to judge (just the WIP) so if anyone else wants to help me, please post (don't if you are entering)
Well, i would have entered if i could have gotten my pile of scrap to fly, sadly, i can't. I know how to use wire, but i don't see how you can make stuff balance perfectly, and hover properly. Pictures anyway:

Can anyone remember the Episode one podracer game. Those were the days..
Can anyone remember the Episode one podracer game. Those were the days..
haha i played that when i was 12 i completed whole game
Aw how do you guys make it hover? :P
Can anyone remember the Episode one podracer game. Those were the days..
Fucking yeah i do, Awesome game, i overplayed that shit. I think i'll start work on the pod racer sometime on saturday I finish my exams on thursday, so i'll be free on saturday, cause friday is massive partayyz.
The one thing I remember most about the game is. ITS A NEW LAP RECORD
I remember the lil countdown symbols lol.
OK, i have updated my pod considerably
The pod just looks like concrete block spam now :/ and the texture is way too generic, nice try though.

I was never able to beat the game, stuck on the very last race I think. Some time later, my Pentium II PC crashed and thus lost my progress. :v: [editline]02:58PM[/editline] I might give this competition a go.
I can get everything to work perfectly - my pod hovers at the right height, elastics are fine, etc. But I do not understand the applyForce to stop it from drifting. To be honest, I haven't heard of it until this competition. From my understanding - I put the line of code "applyForce(entity():vel() * 2)" into an E2 gate and just slap that on the pod/engines? I try that and nothing is changed Help please.

entity():applyForce(entity():pos() * 2) not vel, and you need something to apply the force to, e.g the chip, which you put beforehand hence, entity():applyForce(bla) [editline]07:51PM[/editline] Here the WIP screens of my Pod Racer so far btw: Any comments? Like it? The engines are based of Gasgano's podracer, the Pod is my own design, and thanks to Mr.Sharps for materialising the engines. xx
Noo! I was going to build my pod around Gasgano's pod too... lol - now I'll just have to be creative and make up one. Okay just so we're clear - I put "entity():applyForce(entity():pos() * 2) " into a line of an E2 gate with no inputs/outputs... then the force will be applied to that specified chip. So I then put that where I want it on an entity and the effects will take place?
well you need to put interval(10) at the start, so it'll loop. Then yeah it will. Any comments on the podracer? :P
Thanks buddy As far as your podracer.. it looks ballin. I love how you did the striping on the sides where its one heavy stripe then two minor ones above and below it. I don't know if you intended to do that or just got lucky with how the pieces worked out when you curved them.
Yeah i meant to do that :) Thanks lol.
I've gotten a proper response out of the E2 gate I guess... but it's just not the one I'm looking for I put the chip on and then my base goes whack and flies away... :(

Jesus, that looks like they made gmod for HL1 engine...
Jesus, that looks like they made gmod for HL1 engine...
Lol, i know, im running gmod on my laptop when I took that Edit : New pics
Now that is alot better, didja use mine as an example? :P. Btw guys, mine floats now, independant on each part etc etc all in one chip. Runs by accelleration instead of on/off, and im adding some other features.
Love love loove the engines! The pod doesn't flow well with them however... :(
I've gotten a proper response out of the E2 gate I guess... but it's just not the one I'm looking for I put the chip on and then my base goes whack and flies away... :(
Lol, the correct line was interval(20) applyForce( - entity():vel() * 2) this means the chip will apply a force in the opposite direction the the velocity, slowing it down, In mine I removed the Z velocity from the vector, so the pods wouldn't nose dive if they do a jump, you can do this in a few ways, the easiest probably being something like: @persist V:vector F:vector interval(20) V = entity():vel() F = -V * vec(2,2,0) applyForce( F ) you can use :setZ(0) (i think that is the line), but does the same thing.
