hi nerds yesterday (well, today, but at like 2am) i got bored and decided to recolour a photo i really like, but unfortunately could only find in really low res original (plus very slight blue tint i added later to help make the colours feel 'right') [img]http://i.imgur.com/qdzJtCp.jpg[/img] recoloured [img]http://i.imgur.com/SL4lUif.jpg[/img] still not perfect, but my skin tones are better than they used to be now, and i really like how the slight tint i added to the original gives it a cold winter's day feeling. the woman with the rifle is [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roza_Shanina]roza shanina[/url], who was an absolute dreamboat e: if anyone can find me a substantially higher res, good quality version of the photo, i'd be glad to redo it. i found one that's perhaps 10-20% bigger, but the quality is a touch low due to some sloppy watermark removal somebody did.

It's a pity most of those Russian propaganda girls ended up having a rather sad end, like the Tanker that was ran over by a Russian tank by accident at night. Or Roza herself that ended up dead by German Artillery. Unfortunately, being brave generally heightens your chances of getting killed, particularly during offensive operations. Guys, how do you recolor the ww1/ww2 photos? I am really bored in Prague. :v:

There are all sorts of different techniques, but I'm lazy and a scrub so I literally just paint a colour layer over them and mess with layer blending until it looks about right. For that reason, I have issues colouring photos with too much or too little contrast, or large areas of extreme brightness/darkness. There are more efficient ways of doing it, but I haven't really had time to try them yet.

I finally forced myself to play BF4. And surprisingly, it wasn't so bad, It feels like BF3 + AVA, though. I'd like some modern military FPS where factions use THEIR weapons only, not all the guns in the world. And the grind is even worse than in BF3. But I like the personalization and additional vehicle camos.

BF2 may be dead, but it lives on in my heart.
