I’m listening to Evanescence (CAN’T WAKE UP) and I’ve muted all the sound; shut my bedroom door and turned off all the lights, so let’s get this shit done and earn some fuckin’ steam cards (WAKE ME UP INSIDE)
I pressed play and earned an achievement, congratulations to me. We’re back at the bakery, and THERE ARE TOO MANY BRIGHT COLOURS IN THIS GAME. Our catgirl maids/sisters/daughters/fuckbuddies are still manning the counter, and oh yeah the rest of the litter works here now. It’s been awhile, I forgot the deep, intricate plot of the first (second?) game. Oh and the fucking incestuous sister is still living with me for some reason. Why have I not forced her out of my house?
So we run through a big “opening rush” kind of opening scene; everyone’s working and everything’s great and happy because I guess we have huge catgirl orgies every night and all that. Are we the only bakery in this fucking city? And how does nobody complain about getting fur in their food?
AND WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS? WHY IS MY SISTER SUDDENLY A CATGIRL? THIS WAS NOT IN THE LAST GAME WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON IN MY KITCHEN? ARE THEY GOING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO ME?
I have literally played 1.5 minutes of this game and I’m already losing my goddamn mind. Excuse me while I grab some heavy duty rum.
Apparently we have a blog now, too. What the hell happened in the interim between these two games? I feel an exposition dump coming, and I’m not going to enjoy it.
Azuki (that’s the short but oldest one with the spunky attitude) is keeping me from having to interact with the plebians that buy my food, thankfully, but she’s pairing people up into teams with weird ship-war names (ChocoVani? Seriously?), so I guess this is something else I’ll have to get used to.
Jesus, 5 minutes into the game and I’ve written more in this rant than the game has. Guess that goes to show how ridiculous it is at first glance, huh? I’m already considering this weirder than the first game, and that was a weird fucking game to begin with. Also, I’m pretty sure everyone’s tits got bigger. And bouncier. No, I didn’t rack up the slider (ahem), I’m not that crazy.
And it is about this time we are introduced to our central conflict: Azuki and Coconut (that’s the taller, bustier, youngest one) are clashing heads. What drama! Two characters I couldn’t give less of a shit about hate each other!
And then the intro sequence, which I’m fucking skipping because I want to get through this game and get my steam cards.
And then my internet died so I had to play through this piece of shit in silence. Absolute, uncomfortable silence. No, I wasn’t about to turn the in-game sound back on, are you crazy? I should really download some music for situations like these.
Anyway, Coconut has a heart to heart with Cashew about being a wangsty teenager archetype who is self-defeating and not terribly good at her job. Reminds me of me when I was 12. So we take her out for a walk/delivery, because that’s what you do with cats when they’re pissed and can’t delegate. I’m calling it now, I’m going to have to fuck this cat. Which is a line I never thought I’d have to say in my life and hopefully never will have to again.
Oh look it’s the food cart cat from the last game. /me introduces cinnamon to character she hasn’t met. Except now she gets a name, and it’s “milk.” Good to know for the time at which she becomes important to the plot.
And for fuck sakes, HEADROOM ON COCONUT. I get that she’s supposed to be tall, but there’s still supposed to be that space between the top of the character’s head and the top of the screen! Cinematography 101, people!
Milk runs out into the street because we need drama and Coconut saves her. We get an extended thank-you from the still-unnamed store owner, then get cussed out by the sister and the rest of the cats for being late. You know what? You’re all fucking fired! Then the sister tries to steal a kiss and I think that’s the end of this episode. I need to lay down and reflect on my life and how I ended up recounting my playthrough of a really shitty visual novel, instead of one of the good ones.
