So, i've just read the topic about new update and my opinion is "WHAT THE FLYING FUCK, GARRY, ARE YOU DRUNK?!". RIP /fp/, 2004-2016

Apart from the avatars (which are probably just a temporary thing anyway) I don't think much will change. All the old posts and threads will carry over, so that will probably mean that all the sections as of now will automatically turn into subforums with some assigned moderator. So all the currently existing forums probably won't change a whole lot.

Generally, it's all remebering me year 2009, when russian facebook clone VK switched to a microblog system. There was a [B]HUGE[/B] shitstorm, that turned into national scale (VK is the most popular website in a whole russian internet segment), but after some time, just in a few months after update, everyone just get used and never remembered about old system again. It feels like /fp/ is going to come to a similar scenario, but less dramatic.

we could personalise the screenshotting subforum exactly to our liking which I love and where threads like Espionage Wars can run a lot smoother with subforum mods and stuff although the rest of it looks shit

The lack of of global moderation and private passworded sub-forums just strikes me as downright irresponsible. The last thing FP needs is be a hotspot for illegal shit with no accountability. Most of the changes make zero sense when what we have is perfectly functional

Also, I'm starting to think the 16x16 avatars is just a really bad joke, because what would be the point?

Honestly if screenshots/modelling get's trashed by it we're just gonna make our own forum. It's been a long time coming anyway. [editline]29th May 2016[/editline] I mean there's really nowhere else to go for SFM/GMOD posing/models other than DA, here and the workshop (when it comes to models).

From what I read and heard, you will be able to make your own subforums and pick mods for it. Just make a Gmod/SFM screenshots subforum. That is if this one doesn't get carried over to the new one.

That's another thing the idea of anyone being able to make their own sub-forum sounds like a clusterfuck.

Something we should probably do is get some sort of vote to see who creates the new Screenshots section, so when the forums change we don't have 5 or 6 guys rushing to create the forum, ending up with a few and possibly splitting the already small userbase.

Even if we do that's still going to happen.

I sincerely hope he doesn't fuck it up that bad. I spend about third of my internet time on this forum.

FP has been my internet hub for close to a decade. I really hope it isn't ruined.

What's sad is that Garry won't care what we, the users, say; he never gave a shit in the past so there's no reason for him to do now. Which is sad because this update will remove most of what makes FP what it really is.
