What are those from anyway?
Some misc props I have sitting around from Dawn Of War 2.
no offense but i dont even see a city, it looks like the interior of a factory or some sort of basement area
None taken. That's not the original view angle it was made for anyway. Was going for a sort of dystopian warehouse district. Been wanting to pose this for a while. Sorry for the shitty quality and lack of effects. I'm not familiar with editing yet.
did you use world material editor? it looks insanely noticeable
not for this picture no. Where is it noticeable?
Too much empty space. Like, the right half of the picture is completely empty. Use the Camera tool's zoom function (Hold left mouse button + move the mouse to change its zoom and angle) to focus your picture like this [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/88449546/sasgasah5haw5aw45aw4.jpg[/t] [editline]21st November 2016[/editline]
im also overlooking the fact youre using a hl2 map for some reason
it seems to be one of fakefactory's "remakes". That would explain it
then the area you picked in the map is p bad, the footpath and the concrete barrier around the tree just doesnt bode well
ah yeah, i was messing on this map before i decided to pose. Some parts of the map work well for pictures if you choose the right spots, otherwise It's just an edited deathmatch map. And I didn't know how to use the zoom function. Was wondering how to when I finished. Thanks!

I'd tone down that blur a little bit (and add some focus) but aside from that it's good.
Anyway to improve this?
making pics in a slightly bigger size would be a good start, as would be ensuring that the JPEG quality is 100% without compression, optimization or anything like that.

"boss we appear to be in a bad game, advice, over" [editline]a[/editline] also, i like the effects, but you should make them a bit less intense, there's a lot of colour bandit around them
;51417368']"boss we appear to be in a bad game, advice, over" [editline]a[/editline] also, i like the effects, but you should make them a bit less intense, there's a lot of colour bandit around them
I lowered the intensity of the effects. I also thought the 'Posterize' filter that I used was too intense, so I weakened it a bit, too.
making pics in a slightly bigger size would be a good start, as would be ensuring that the JPEG quality is 100% without compression, optimization or anything like that.
Well okay but do you know any tips or sites on how?.
first take the screenshot not with the camera tool, but with a console command - "poster" works well, type in "poster 1" so you'll get an uncompressed screenshot the size of your screen resolution. if you want it to be bigger, type in "poster 2" for double size, "poster 3" for triple size and so on when converting it into JPEG in GIMP or Photoshop or whatever you use, the image saving dialog should give a few detailed options for the file type you've chosen. in GIMP for example you can set the overall JPEG compression quality, smoothing, optimization, 'subsampling' and whatnot. it's good to turn off everything that would lower the image quality for the sake of file size, so that you get a shot with as little compression as possible. of course if this is a little too much of a hassle, you can go into the console, type in "jpeg_quality 100" and then use the camera tool.
Just me experimenting with photoshop
Got around with using one of Soul's Halo 5 models for the first time. Its a long time coming, but I finally got the Achilles set! I think the bolter muzzle-flash is a bit much, but man I do love those effects! [t]http://i.imgur.com/CegumfL.jpg[/t]
a bolter's muzzle flash should never look like that anyway and the effects look terrible here, why are they so weak and transparent [editline]24th November 2016[/editline] and those particles look terrible anyway, where are they from? i'd get something far less cartoony if i were you.

I think some of them were used in a lot of Sci fi SFM videos. bolterfx.pcf
the sparthongs also look a bit stiff
As someone who hasn't played the games outside of my cousins I had to go to Google Images and YouTube videos for a mix of references. Clearly I'm missing something.
you should try the particles from Firearms: Source 2.0, IIRC they're pretty good
you should try the particles from Firearms: Source 2.0, IIRC they're pretty good
Where can I get those? Source 2.0? Isn't that SFM2?
its version 2.0 of a mod called firearms: source
I heard of it, but I do not know how to install their particles in SFM since I haven't seen someone try it before. v2 with a bit more varied poses from different references and Payday 2 particles. Critique and comment please. [t]http://i.imgur.com/ZIRNS48.jpg[/t]
Are you adding motion blur to the muzzleflashes by any chance?
