uhh lighting is a bit weird and blur on that ak is way too strong idk
Yeah I tried to fix the blur I'm not sure what happened. I'll see if I can change it today. The panel for blur was put on the barrel right there, but it made the barrel blurry. I didn't notice it until after I was about to go to bed last night.

Just a simple lighting test.

It's one of Crazy Knife's ground planes that I recolored. I also used some Skyrim grass that I modified a bit.

Just found my first screenshot ever

Also why does this make me feel uncomfortable?

Even if I'm going to repeat myself.
There is so much threadworthy stuff in here! Why don't you guys make threads for your pictures?
In the good old days there was far worse stuff being posted in threads!
Hell my whole gallery basically consists of nothing but lighting tests :v:

i just dont want to make a thread as most of my stuff wont get responded to and buried in better artwork
the standards for threadworthiness are way too high nowadays in my opinion
yeah, no offence to the guys but the standard of work from people like crazy knife and vioxtar really deters me from creating even non-threadworthy things anymore
like I could make a thread of two pages just full of unfinished saves
im a zinger
yeah, no offence to the guys but the standard of work from people like crazy knife and vioxtar really deters me from creating even non-threadworthy things anymore
Damn.. if anything I hoped to inspire. What you're describing is the last thing I hoped for :\
well its hard enough trying to come close to the stuff you do as it is
let alone going further
all of the stuff you do is so incredibly amazing its nearly impossible to topple i.e. smoke, fog, visual effects, textures, lighting, scenebuilds
only having a single ideal for shots is kinda stupid anyway
experiment with close ups when model quality permits it, fuck with composition and scenes, not everything needs to be a scenebuild with a drawn out camera and wide angle
yeah but the issue is that most maps that youd want to use either crash because of too many entities or dont have hdr and decompiling them breaks the entire map
i had both of those issues like 10 times now and they popped most ideas for shit like star wars poses in star destroyers and similar
maps you'd want to use?
are we still on Source?
yeah, no offence to the guys but the standard of work from people like crazy knife and vioxtar really deters me from creating even non-threadworthy things anymore
what sort of defeatist train of thought is that? i've never let other peoples' masterpieces put me down, they've only driven me on.
its my train of thought, unfortunately

Clipped the leg through the ladder annoyingly
its my train of thought, unfortunately
You shouldn't compare yourself to others, that's a bad recipe. The only way you could compare art of one person to another is if you have two artists, specify for them some specific subject, and then compare results. That would make sense.
Some people here have been much longer (2006 in my case) and have figured out over time what works and what doesn't. Don't be afraid to post even if you think it's crap, I think this is what this thread's for. I know I was never afraid to post anything even if something I made wasn't pretty or funny or got a dumb rating later on.
I posted a raw screenshot without any editing, poor light, and my pc wasn't great so the picture is at worse condition
But everything is still ok, I don't feel shy or shame about myself at all
That pic received like 20 funny though :v:
maps you'd want to use?
what's this supposed to mean?
it means Source maps look absolutely terrible and you should learn to scenebuild ASAP.
i can't scenebuild the interior of a star destroyer's bridge without any star wars assets, unfortunately
same goes to most warcraft-related things and even worse is the fact that i can't port them over because wow model viewer is a pile of garbage
i can't scenebuild the interior of a star destroyer's bridge without any star wars assets, unfortunately
in theory you can but it's going to take a shit ton of time and props
Just want to post a message, the art we make, every scenebuild, every idea in it, it's all small pieces of a frontier beyond of which everyone should travel, start to create a one big world where all scenebuilds will be part of it, every author would be recognized by his art style, vision and theme combined into one universe. I wish everyone to go that way, the way of self-exploration, subject props/ragdolls to serve your world, don't make your art a pleasure, it is a source of great solace. The Next and Final Frontier in scenebuilding is a universe building.
Added: A Universe Building, unrelated scenebuilds become related to each other, set in a different place and time, developing characters and events, passive storytelling and depth of a world in general. Good Luck!
