Isn't what most people do, though? Make a big scene, pose as many poses and situations as you can, and then take the best shots you can find.
Or that's just me?
I always assumed the point of building the scene was to get all of it in view, but now I'm kinda relieved that isn't always the case
Isn't what most people do, though? Make a big scene, pose as many poses and situations as you can, and then take the best shots you can find.
that's a terrible way to go about it, it leaves too much to chance.
i always place a few models, then decide on the camera angle and then make the rest.
I always assumed the point of building the scene was to get all of it in view, but now I'm kinda relieved that isn't always the case
why the hell do people talk about "getting all of the scene in view"? that's like, fuck, "i assembled this huge scenery and now i'm trying to figure out how much of it i want to show". do you always build the scene first and THEN place the camera where you want it? it's a waste of time, because you're always leaving out a portion of the stuff you placed earlier. decide on the angle first, stick to it, and then build only the stuff that's going to be visible from that exact angle. that way you can put all of your effort into what the viewer sees instead of wasting time and effort on useless crap outside the camera.
does everyone else here work completely without any kind of vision or plan when it comes to composition or something?
Making scenebuilds and having 440 messages since January 2008, and you're saying I do shitposts ?!
I don't think he was talking directly to you. He was just joking in general.
@joazzz I don't think I've ever placed a camera before posing in gmod. I just used make the scene and then used the camera tool to take the picture at an angle I thought looked good so idk
in SFM when scenebuilding I can just select one or multiple things and sort it around with ease so it's a pretty easy process to re-do a scene

Sometimes I just load up gmod with no idea and start scenebuilding. I just start off with a ground prop or a rock/mountain prop and start building from there. Then I play a bit with fog, then I add some vegetation, and then some characters/building or something.
You just have to let your imagination take you away sometimes. No plan necessary. I remember in this pic I just started with a ground prop and wanted to add some random grass to it. It just grew from there as you work on the landscape.

For the hobbit house I didn't even have a plan. I just started to randomly stack rocks on top of another until I thought you could build a house out of this.

In other cases you just start off with a plan like you want to build a giant elephant robot and draw it on paper as a concept first. This always helps if you have an idea already of what you want.
ur a fuckin artist dude
edit: and apart of the few people around here that do non-violence related stuff
no offence to those who do violence related stuff, as thats all i do myself
Hey >_< I do violence as well. You just wait for my upcoming comic. There's gonna be fucking gunscenes and blood and violence mishmashed with some comedy.

Last of Us 2 hype!
So, I downloaded that new R6S model and played with it a bit. And I found that this is pretty awesome model to work with. Because even without graphic edit in PS or somewhere else these pictures are kinda neat.
I mean, it's surprisingly well just for gmod only. Insanely photogenic ragdoll. 10/10.
