All you have to do to get that DOF is render in 1:1[/QUOTE]

I just did, render in 1:1 aspect ratio like 1000x1000 or something like that

It actually doesn't. It just cuts off the left and right edges to make a square. Glitches out the bottom for some reason, too.
That could be because I rendered a test out at 750 x 750.

I was gone for a while for the holidays.
Decided to make some more props. In particular, trees and forest terrain with textures I took in the wild.

So far I only like one kind of tree I made and that's the one the guy on the right is leaning on. The rest are kind of jaggy.
I'm also trying to figure out how to make a simple transparent texture to add things like leaves, but when I do translucent 1 it's just not translucent for me.
the tree trunk texture repeats horribly in the second pic but i'm always down for more ground props

You need to have a texture like this in the diffuse's alpha channel if you want transparent leaves :

I must be missing something. I'm doing everything properly and the leaves are still not displayed.

You need to have the alpha texture IN the alpha channel of your diffuse texture, like so :

Also you forgot to put [code]"$alphatest" "1"[/code] in your .vmt, like so :
