camouflage? on MY Space Marines? it's more likely than you think
why making such a strong vignette? it would look so much better without it or with a very light one
Yes I did steal that quote off some post I seen on some facebook page.
That quote is from SpyKids 2 lmao. Steve Buscemi's character says it.
without it
blasphemy
or a very light one
i shall experiment with this how's this, dropped its opacity by a half [t]http://files.1337upload.net/Scouts_Desert-b5ca90.jpg[/t] another one at 100% opacity but with the lowest vignette layer disabled [t]http://files.1337upload.net/Scouts_Desert-54aeb9.jpg[/t]
definitely better
Working on a scenebuild here. Some minor edits
Where's that brick floor from? Would be really handy.
it's the italy tiled floor from his pack from the looks of it
That quote is from SpyKids 2 lmao. Steve Buscemi's character says it.
makes it even better
Where's that brick floor from? Would be really handy.
It's part of my released pack. Everything in the pic has already been released except for the trees. The furniture is from the witcher 3 pack. [editline]5th January 2017[/editline] Just use the stacker tool to stack em left and right. That's how I design my props so you can just easily copy them.

After experimenting with various techniques taken from Vioxtars tutorials and adjusting them for Source Filmmaker I got something which works for everything, not just character lighting and thanks to Vioxtars lighting stacking method it also removes the limit of 8 lamps in SFM which is really neat. The following picture is all ingame apart from slight sharpening and contrast adjustments. The Ambient lighting alone is made up of 7 Lamps :v: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/8IYKtqQ.png[/img_thumb] What do you guys think? Quality Wise I mean, ignore the boring pose etc. [editline]nigga[/editline] Okay this should probably make it easier to see the difference: Both pictures are edited exactly the same way, Contrast was adjusted no sharpening here and are supposed to achieve the same lighting. Before: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ILSssEH.jpg[/img_thumb] After: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/OiPnCoG.png[/img_thumb] The shadows are calculated a lot more accurate after switching to this "Now light fucking everything" method vioxtar described in his tutorial. I think he called it light stacking.
also removes the limit of 8 lamps in SFM which is really neat.
The sfm has no lamp limit. You can have literal hundreds so long as your rig can handle it. The limit is only on lights with shadows enabled specifically.
The sfm has no lamp limit. You can have literal hundreds so long as your rig can handle it. I don't like using lamps without shadows, I never learned what they are good for except lighting something in the background or giving something rim light.
My bad, that's what I meant. I don't like using lamps without shadows, I never learned what they are good for except lighting something in the background or giving something rim light.
I primarily use them to simulate bounce lighting from the environment since source does a real shit job with that. As an example; this only has 1 shadowed light out of a total of 7 lights.

I edited my post above, there you can see 2 different pictures(the one with Ellie). The first one has the ambient calculated without shadows and the second one does it exactly like you, 7 ambient lights but with shadows on. The second one looks a lot more accurate in my opinion. By the way I'm not trying to act like I know shit, this is all just from personal experience. I may be doing something wrong but I find that shadowed lamps + light stacking achieve the best results. Every other workaround looked kind of eh. Also the Doom Chaingun is one of the most HD models I have ever seen ported to Source :v: It would look amazing even without any lights pointed at it. Try it on a ragdoll, I always notice huge differences when turning off the shadows on my lamps, I can imagine that if there is a big scene with lots of stuff going on you'd notice it even further!
Source has an 8 lamp limit, so you need to kill shadows on SOME lights. [editline]5th January 2017[/editline] I used around 32 lights in one scene I did and the engine doesn't render past eight so I had to kill shadows on every one after the eighth. It still came out good just because I was careful where I pointed them.
Mind explaining the process? I'd like to hear how you do it personally.
Of course no problem! It basically involves placing a lot of soft lights to get "real" ambient shading. As I understood it from Vioxtars tutorial it kinda of simulates the whole Ray Tracing Process all the big render programms do so you get lots of better results. 7 are enough I have found but it can depend on the scene. You have to think about where your light sources are and where the bounces are coming from. Place the soft lamps in advance, stack them and you got very accurate light bounces. As you can probably see from my pictures I've only done it for 1 light source at a time and it still achieves amazing results! Since my lighting always consists of 3 point lighting I'd need bounces for atleast the backlight(the blue lights in the pictures). Well that probably wasn't the best way to describe it but that's basically how it works. I highly advise you to check out Vioxtars Tutorial: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1518642 I have been experimenting with this a lot and came up with this technique and it looks really good, I'm going to let it stay like this for now because the quality is quite nice already(it's all ingame mind you) and start with his next guide.
Some progress on trees. Now they have roots and look smoother. Also made this abandoned arch and door. Mainly just the same forest prop duplicated all over the place except for the middle part where I just put a green screen on the floor to create a reflection in photoshop. speaking of reflections - if someone SOMEHOW hacks a real-time reflective water shader into GMod they'll have my babies
That's some quality stuff right there Crazy Knife, really nice!
speaking of reflections - if someone SOMEHOW hacks a real-time reflective water shader into GMod they'll have my babies
dont forget sfm wtf

My shit attempt at recreating the bridge scene from the Dunkirk teaser.
It's not shit at all, I'd just suggest using a different shade of blue to mingle better with the harsher orange.
