they are supposed to look extremely worn, it's war. if it looks s super clean that would not be immersive at all, when ever i do texture stuff for my Uniforms i always go for the Worn looks. because the war-ragged looks of Uniforms in Combat scenes are immersive and blends well.
just my opinion
They are supposed to look worn I agree, but they look too worn like they never cleaned or got a new Jacket since 1941-1944.
Also George, the trousers are too Green. Accept in Simkas scene the lighting makes it look fine.

Makes me wish 343 hadn't radically changed every single thing. I don't hate their designs, in fact I quite like a few of their armors, but most of it just doesn't have the same visual appeal as Bungie's.

I haven't really done much posing in a while and it's pretty random the times that I do pose something worthwhile. Here's something I did at some point:

This one isn't all that great, I tried to make it look like an old photograph, bearing in mind I'm quite limited with my editing software
Some soviets in Afghanistan, Circa 1981 shall we say?

and yes, the soviets do have very solemn facial expressions, I couldn't really think of any other expressions they would have given that they are operating in 50+ degrees, can't be fun.

Photos, even old ones, are almost never that grainy except in low light situations.

yeah, I need to do a little more research, but thanks for the tip, I was unsure how grainy I should make it.

He uses the force.
the blood in the water shouldn't fade out so suddenly, it needs much less defined and blurrier edges

and adherence to the perspective
