where did the huge walls come from
They are from a Skyrim pack but can't find it atm.
where did the huge walls come from
I believe they're still in my Skyrim pack Although this file hasn't been updated since 2014, I don't remember taking these walls out, so they should still be in there.
That's a really neat trick! I just decided to try it with some of the ground props I'm working on and it looks like melted snow. I just duplicated it, painted it white, and brought it back down. Also, some other props I've made. Hopefully I can release them all by Wednesday.
Okay how are you doing that displacement mapping? Please teach me!
Built this thing, not sure what it's called. Is it porch? Decided to combine more of the ground with white material and a bit of snow editing using Caste's trick. By the way, the way I do the displacement mapping is so far through experimenting. I basically use pictures I've taken of rocks or the ground from a top down angle, then I open a plane and put the image on top. Then I make it very high poly (subdivide and subdivide smooth), I set the shader to smooth. After that I use the displace modifier with the image displacement being the displaced version of the regular image (i use Crazybump to get the displacement image). I set the strength of displacement to a very low number like 0.1 since people have complained they're too plastic if I stick them out more intensely. Then I just decimate the whole thing by reducing the number of vertices by like 80% so that it looks high quality and has lower geometry. I also use the bumpmap as a texture file in vtf. That's about it. Mainly experimenting. Like 1/3 of the ones I make wind up looking meh, the others seem to look good, those are the ones I show. [editline]28th June 2016[/editline] I'll release the stuff this Wednesday night (tomorrow).
Incredible, sometimes the content on these forums make me forget it's Gmod we're all playing with. It looks though as if you're making the planes flat in their overall shape. If that's the case, think you could maybe take some of those planes and deform their shape into something like this? So they can be easily stacked/clipped into each other with varying elevations without tearing/gaps etc?

Made 4 different versions which aren't flat so that they can be used as both cliffs/rocks or terrain. One can use the prop resizer z axis to increase the deformedness. An example of these modified cliffs and terrain: Testing window prop
I can't wait to play with these

beta combine, or atleast as beta as i could manage, in a beta map this one may be a bit dark, it's a lot lighter on my left monitor so im not really sure
the combine sliding on the rope looks akward. andd the second picture looks a bit dark to me, too. Good to see you making progress though.

terminator armor turns Marines into walking tanks, but that doesn't mean they move like ones. the flamer guy looks incredibly stiff. and don't use the fucking leg cross bodygroup with the kneeguards, can't you see that the damn thing clips?

old version - http://i.imgur.com/1QorGwT.jpg so I decided to make a new version of this scene, hope it looks a bit better
Good angle and composition, but the way the closest guy is holding his AK-74M looks kinda weird IMO. The dude with the SVD appears to be holding it odd as well, other than that, it's pretty good.
