Maybe you should keep rally related comments on the rally thread right here: https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1546654

Need to understand this is ALMS we're talking about, all of GGG and creative knows him. He's not going to steal or troll your shit.
ALMS
Who? Its intrusive and un-welcomed. I dont give a damn how "good" he is, we dont need someone to snoop through everyones cars checking every constraint and every line of code just to say "YA no applyforce here u gud 2 rice." Just let us race and keep our Prop-Protection Condoms on.
Need to understand this is ALMS we're talking about, all of GGG and creative knows him. He's not going to steal or troll your shit.
Nor does he need to. He's made 15 speed gearboxes with ACF components, coded Ackermann + countersteer steering systems, a less than 20 line prop to holo chip, made some of the most beautiful cars in gmod, and made critical contributions to suspension and chassis design. When it comes to steering and suspension, he doesn't just build something and then try to make it better, he uses mathematics to determine what is the best way to make something, and then makes it accordingly, and I can't think of anyone else who plays this game who does the amount of computational legwork to determine where to place a control arm that ALMS does.
With that being said, there is no need to fear inspections unless if you're cheating. There is no need for such advanced builders to steal your stuff, especially someone as high profile as ALMS.
[sp]yeah yeah gimme your boxes I'm damned by everyone anyway since I always build the same shit. I get how it is #edgy[/sp]
doesn't matter how famous or impressive he is. it's the principle of the matter
let's say you're a programmer for a game, right. you got this code and you worked hard on it and it finally works. you're proud of it
but now in order to put it in the game, someone completely unaffiliated with your company wants to look through it and make sure it's gucci for your game, that you haven't stolen any code from someone or something
and aside from that it's setting a precedent and giving way too much power to one person to look through code.
also, that's like saying 15 speed gearboxes are difficult in acf lmao

I'm not, I also spoke nothing about the controls he put in place to run said automatic transmission, not that it matters. There is no principle of the matter since this is like the FIA inspecting each F1 car before it hits the track. I simply included what some of the things he has done that just rolled off the top of my head to try and show you that he has no reason to steal people's stuff.
TL;DR I do not believe there is a solution that is going to appease you, in a perfect world no inspection would have to occur, but because some people stuffed fin and applyforce into competition grade contraptions and then lied about it during the last rally, this is the shit skid we're on.
These are cars, for a race. The race has rules, and there is someone entrusted to certify and ensure that all competitors follow the rules, because people cheat. Also, said certifying agent is working to automate the inspection process so he doesn't have to look at all of our code because it's time consuming in addition to it making everyone pissy.
Personally I am more concerned about someone using an E2 to steal people's whole cars in a manner similar to how someone stole Swishy's AE86 a couple of months ago. So basically we're all damned, scary competition inspector guy or not.
Yes we all work hard on our contraptions, whether they have auto leveling headlights with cornering, magnetorheological struts, anti-lock brakes, automatic transmissions, and or suspensions ranging from bump optimized independent to good old fashioned swing axles. Of course we are all proud of that, but the fear of someone else taking that seems to overshadow the pride. These rallies are supposed to bring this community together, not tear it apart, and fear will ruin this community. So lets rally on, unafraid and unclouded.

RMW Micro, A mix between a Mini Cooper and a Fiat 127. hopefully done before the rally starts
My 2 cents: What is so special about your e2s that you fear that its getting stolen / gets looked at? Does it have links to your secret emails? Or that secret saucy meme no one knows about? Seriously. We are talking about code made in a programming language included in a mod made for a mod that runs in source. Not some secret government virus programmed to take out terrorists. Sure you made it. But its like not allowing a car mechanic to check your ECU, just because he has to get inside.
I treat my code as open source, and 99% of the times you can have it if you ask.
Ok guys, how about this. You get it checked or you don't enter the race. Simple
Don't like it? Piss off, easy as that.
Now lets just post some content ok?
In reply to above, I personally keep my stuff open too. If you ask you can have it.
What is so special about your code that makes it so only you and your inner circle can get it?

Its your choice to have it open source not everyone has to throw their e2s in the air because someone else doesnt think they're special. My e2s are special because I made them, and spent time on them and are my possession. You wouldnt let anyone who asked for a dupe of your car have one, right? unless you believe in communism.
I've done that thing I do again. I gotta stop making new tanks off of a tankette.

Lightly-armored TD, lightly-armored turreted mortar carrier, MLRS system firing 205mm pen HEAT. TD and mortar carrier are both open-turreted, and with any luck I'll be able to just get through these within a few days and then stop making more of these darn tiny tankettes with their darn tiny tankette engines.
Anyways, here's a darn tiny tank engine.

It's actually very amazing how much thought was put into the Island of Sodor when you do what I did, get bored, and start looking at the TTTE wiki just to find out who in the hell all these new characters are. What's the best way to get a steam locomotive behaving like a steam locomotive in Gmod?
Need to understand this is ALMS we're talking about, all of GGG and creative knows him. He's not going to steal or troll your shit.
We have one ALMS and one Phulax. Double concern.
A simple test drive on examinated car is not enough?
Like you said. ALMS is "experienced". Then he should know if car is not behaving like it should. Right?
Anyways, it is pretty obvious that this is not going anywhere.
Afraid of getting your stuff stolen? - I am afraid you should not join.
You can not be arsed about it? - Well, have fun!
Is just sad that we never end in a solution. Just drama.
EDIT: A low-level debugger on e2's is not hard to make. Like debugging what kind of forces is e2 doing... Is just one idea.
or literally just disable certain functions on the rally server
it's not difficult
last rally:

this rally:
*arguing about car inspection*
god dammit, it's just a fuckin' sandbox game.

I went ahead and disabled some functions on the rally server (GGG Pyramiden). It wasn't difficult, but I'd prefer not to have to write kludges to protect someone's e-peen.

What do you mean by behaving like a steam locomotive, if you mean its shaking on the tracks you need to add sliders to the wheels if its a E2 you should go to a train server and maybe ask and if its about the driving gear (outside moving parts on Walschaerts for example) theres a tutorial on youtube.
Good thing im not the only who builds trains.
And heres a few 4-8-4,s and 4-8-2,s together.

Mainly it's just getting it moving I'm lost on, probably just need an appropriate e2 or something. Used to build trains a fair bit when I was just starting out in gmod, lot were lost to time and updates though. Decided to just go simple and do a coupling rod only loco just to ease back into things, yanno, just a basic 0-6-0 tank engine. Mind elaborating on what you mean by adding sliders to the wheels?

So here is a little crash course in Steam locomotives in GMod.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Cl7ZfHG.jpg[/t]
This is the bare minimum you need for the base. Drivers axised to the base, and ballsocketed together, with the coupling rod axised to the outermost axles. In the picture axises are represented by red dots. The coupling rod should consist of only a SINGLE prop, if you want to detail the rod, or extend its length you can parent the extra props to the "base coupling rod".
For extra stability you want to put "Sliders" underneath your drivers, usually made invisible when done working with them. these are basically axles that have been placed at the contact points of the drivers, and welded to the base. Make sure to super ice them when you are ready to run your locomotive. These sliders help reduce the bounce created by the imperfect collisions of the axles, and they also help you stay on the rails better.
For steam power we (at least I do) use a public e2 called Realistic Steam Controller, made by Magnum McKivler. ( http://pastebin.com/N24sLYDE <-- A slightly modified version that includes extra outputs for cylinder smoke effects.)
Last but not least, Weights: Base should be around 30000, Drivers between 500 and 1000, Sliders around 10000 and the coupling rods should stay default weights.
Just ask if you have questions. I might make a video for building this base, or a more complicated one with walschearts, if demand is high enough. If you want in-game advice, you can usually find me on the FC&N Train build server.
Quick question: When you all count your props, do you rely on the "Entity" count in AD2, or do you go back and count just your props used for building one by one?

counting prop by prop of course!
jokes aside, the Sui scoreboard shows your propcount aswell as other utility things.

Oh, you absolute hero. Do have FC&N in my server favorites list still if I recall correct, will remember to hop on later if I find the need. I did the coupling rods a bit differently, axised the gate to the drive wheel and then adv. ballsocketed it to the base so it stays level, saves on constraints a little. Lot of habits to be unlearned from all the ACF tank building I've done.
Think I might make a steam tram next. Always liked Toby.

Applyforce, applyoffsetforce, setvelocity, fin, setinertia, i think
some others too, I think. It was a grab bag. Bricked my cars, though. I use applyforce suspension :D
