It looks great as-is now but it could look so much better with different mats.
i'm back for now i guess :excited: started on an m4a2 sherman with 75 [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/766022356029371816/03263C101575C107D1064DB135AAB78556E49296/[/t][t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/766022356029371982/683B1161F7E47D75F4542C84D1819767873E7B51/[/t] [t]https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/766022356029372106/6E034D5FDACF84896110CD04EB5D486EAEF948AD/[/t] currently 112 props with dual 6.5L I6s and a 5f1r transmission, historical armor, rests at 32.3t turret with hideous amount of visclips, very low top speed (21km/h), slow turret traverse, and poor climbing i'll try to fix it so it's not completely useless in combat happy with how it's looking so far though, doubt i'll make it holocrew but you never know
Hello all! I was thinking... What if we did an old fashioned crewed tank battle? See, I've seen this fail in the past, be it due to lack of coordination, effort, or people actually fucking showing up! Despite this, I would love to see a crewed battle take place: 1v1 battles of 2 tanks consisting of at least 3 crewmembers (Up to 4) per tank, with the option of using the Commander's chip I made a while back. Of course, this is just a suggestion: However this is what I'm thinking: -1v1 battles (In heats pre-determined by matching software) Map would be determined by the 2 teams competing, either by coin toss or compromise. -Crews of 3-4 (REAL PEOPLE, no holocrews controlled by one person.) Crew positions must be where they would feasbly be (Have ACF seats in the turret, a scary thought for some of you!). Pods can be laid back for driver position, but no more than 60deg, and even that's pushing it. NO HIDEPLAYER. PLAYERMODELS MUST FIT, AND NOT CLIP EXCESSIVELY WITH COMPONENTS. -Vehicles under 15 tons will only require 2 crew-members. -Up to 40t (To avoid slugfests, which are boring as shit) -Tank Destroyers would be allowed, but only casemated -Obv Must be ACF legal, with camera positions being where they realistically would be (I.E Periscope) -Late WWII - Mid Cold War themed - does not have to be a real tank, just something reasonably sized, armed and powered accordingly, and obv. looks the part. -120mm Gun Cap -No HMG/SA/AC secondary guns (Because honestly secondaries should be MG's in my opinion) -Turret traverse based upon weight (I'm thinking a 30deg/s for 10-15t, 25deg/s for 16-25t, and 20deg/s to 26-40t) -And for the love of god no BS composite armor. 3 layers max, including main armor. I'd like some actual skill in this battle, teamwork is important for a crew. Voice Chat could be handled Via Discord. -ATGMS would be allowed, but restricted to purely ATGM based vehicles maxing out at 20t (Go ahead, cry IT-1 and STRV at me, I don't honestly care, balancing exists.) -No gun size limit to weight: if you can fit a 120 into a 10t chassis with 3 crew, be my fucking guest. -NO MODERN STYLE MBT'S. -On the subject of historical tanks of the era, yes, you can use the actual turret traverse rate. However, engine output, crew positions, and armor must be as close as possible to the real thing. -No multi-engined vehicles unless: -Historical Accuracy -2 Small engines (Like dual V6's/V8's in a light tank, something actually feasble, no massive dual engine vehicles.) -120 long guns only use AP/HV-HEAT (to simulate SABOT/HEAT-FS rounds.) -Casemate TD's will have their weight limit decreased to 35 tons, simply because its easy enough to armor TD's to have insanely strong frontal armor due to lack of turret. If you are making an S-Tank Style TD: Your weight limit is 25 tons, only because of the insane sloping that can arise from the shape of the hull. However, I am willing to individually raise weight limits per individual TD provided they demonstrate a relatively exposed weak spot that can be used to disable the TD/Vital Crew, but to no more than 30 tons for S-Tank Style TD's. The last thing we need is a hyper-sloped fest of overpowered TD's that end up in a slugfest. Also, bonus points to anyone doing cast designs. You are alright in my book :D And, to avoid all bullshit, All tanks would be evaluated about 3-5 days before event to allow time for fixes to be made should any issues arise, then checked come tournament day to make sure all issues have been rectified. -Bullshit is defined as Unrealistic engines, mobility, component placement, armoring (I.E a breach in ACF legality or rules posted), and camera placement. No zooming out to see the enemy from across the map. The event would take place somewhere around June 20th. ...And will NOT be hosted in Australian time. Again, this is just an idea I'd really love to see come to fruition: leave feedback! In the meantime, assemble your crews, and let's do this! If enough people show interest, (at least 4 teams) then Ill refine the rules, but again, I'd love to see this shit happen. It's about time we had an event. EDIT: This will be on a server hosted off of my computer: Local hosts tend to be more stable provided the internet is good and the computer stronk, and believe me, I have both. If anyone has a better server to host this on, let me know, but Im not going to GGG because of all the changes they made. EDIT V2: Anything that is only underlined has been edited in EDIT V3: After talking it over with ferv, he pointed out that I could provide crewed tanks of various classes to anyone who doesnt want to build one. If people want this, I'll do it. I honestly really want this event to happen. However, please contact me by June 10th with your request for a vehicle, I will do custom orders, but they will be extremely bare-bones. No detailing, and will have no e2's. EDIT V4: Red has offered to be one of the third party evaluators to check for bs. Rumor has it Ferv might assist. EDIT V5: All future updates on this event, attendance, and general discussion will be posted here https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1566090&p=52299626#post52299626

Last one didn't do so well in that regard and with how well it just played out in general...
Right, I'm not saying this has to happen, HOWEVER I'm hoping that, with better communication, and the ability to not be restricted to a certain tank like the last event, this will be much more enjoyable, as the only advantage people will have is how they build, and who they crew it with.
;52287762']Teams of 2 would make things run a lot smoother, 1 driver 1 gunner.
The idea would be 1 gunner, 1 driver, and 1 commander. HOWEVER, I would consider crews of 2 for vehicles less than 15t. You dont see much else at higher weight crewed by fewer than a min of 3.

Last time an event was like this, people could only use certain e2s, alot of dumb rules, no one showed up or crew members didn't show up. If you're doing an event, crews don't work out based on attendance. Surprise, surprise its an SK-105. Hey that rhymed. Turret will be differant because oscillating turrets are fucking annoying. I had an idea once for a similar event, but more for light tanks. It would consist of getting to point a to point b the quickest, firing on some targets, surviving some various munitions or something, can't remember all of it.
Or even baik matches set to different game modes, time periods or tonnages. I've already tried to convince ses to add more game modes like rush, capture the flag and shit. We actually have WW2 acf sweps coded which I helped test if your interested for those to be put into an event. There is also the idea of showcases like a cars and coffee meme that's more chilled out and can show people your modeling skills, e2s and insides without the chaos of a battle.
oscillating turrets are fucking annoying.
But on the upside you can fit more stuff into them at the cost of gun elevation. It's an interesting turret design that I for one really like. Not sure why I like them so much.
For anyone interested in the event, would you be opposed to increasing weight max to 45 tons, and finding a way to balance around that? My crewed tank went a bit big because of scale lol. EDIT: Thought about it, bad idea, ignore it.
Decreasing or increasing weight dosen't change the meta. It would only be for heavy or light tank events.
Hello, here my latest stunt car. you can see video here : https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1565924 Its not a attempt to be realistic for sure. Just funny stuff :°)
Rulings for event were just updated: if you are interested, read over the changes. Idk if Im getting annoying by this point, but fuck it: I want this shit to happen.

That's what we did for Cheezus's go kart event and it went really well.
Holy shit, I finally did it, I got my bus to work with the G29 steering controller I had lying around, its shifter, and its pedals! Even half-clutch is possible with it! Engine stalls if clutch is operated incorrectly too. Do apologize for somewhat shitty driving, I do not have a drivers license yet...

heyy look ma I am doing car [t]http://i.imgur.com/RtITabY.jpg[/t] roughly based on another guy's older motor, which I kinda liked the look of. It doesn't drive very well, very fucking lumpy but its a start and I'm proud of it :cat:
WWI-era 5-ton armored car: [t]http://i.imgur.com/Y4YR0Qx.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Wgo8hJS.jpg[/t] Has a putput straight 4 good for around 200 hp, which manages to push all 5 tons of the car up to 36 mph if given the space. Practical cross-country speed is 28 mph. Has always-on 4WD which provides ample traction; the car is capable of holding itself at and ascending a 40° slope without tipping over. Armor is resistant to rifle-caliber penetration but not much else. The main armament is a 20mm machine gun firing solid ammunition rated for up to 25mm penetration. 1800 rounds are carried in 3 separate armored crates in the rear of the vehicle. I've got about 200 more kg before the whole car starts to get tippy should I want to replace the current armament with something larger. This means an autocannon could be fitted in a redesigned turret in order to increase the firepower. I'm planning on doing this or incorporating a mortar system for indirect fire support so that I can replace the mg that I didn't realize would be so anemic. [t]http://i.imgur.com/fJJRGhY.jpg[/t]
