Probably the fact that not many build servers have truly dark maps or rare to see any build cars at night (atmos is just buggered) that makes it look so good.
idk.
I am so jealous.
Are those dials covered with radium. Please say yes.
jez it's actually inspired from those 80s digital dashboards,it's just a simple feature i added to disable the shading anytime i want while driving on night maps not big deal.

It was a joke. The dials lit up green like an old watch. That's why I like it :cat:
So i've been working on a project recently and i'm pretty proud to call it almost done. It's a Hayes WHDX 6x6. I used this image for reference https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2d/Hayes_Arbegui_2010.JPG for the truck and this one for the dash http://lifetimenutcovers.com/peterbilt/demos/pbdash.jpg .

Thumb tags don't actually change the image's resolution, just its display size. You have to download the whole thing regardless.
Oh rip.
This actually took fucking forever.

Before anyone asks about the gay pride flag on the IR box, there are three reasons it's there.
A: My friend dared me
B: Rainbows were all the rage in the sixties and this is a sixties medium tank I guess
C: So far like 10 people have called it gay so it gets a gay flag as recognition
You guys like it?

Hey guys, can we no longer do these massive content dumps? Loading the page is taking ages.
It would be nice if people put their dumps in an imgur album that's linked somewhere in the post.
I made a Portakabin for upcoming snow map (COUGH BOREAS COUGH)
Still stuck with interior, as with most things.

If you want to make it look "lived in" then you could add a bit of clutter to the work bench, some tools left out on the surface, etc. Picture yourself working out of that little cabin and imagine where you would sleep, keep your equipment, perhaps some personal belongings. Have some fun with it, it already looks good and I do like seeing buildings on this thread.

Thanks man. Will do! :cat:
I love dieselpunk aesthetics, especially those with a heavy WWI influence. So, when I saw the art of Jakub Rozalski (whose work is the foundation for both the board game Scythe and the currently in-developement RTS video game, Iron Harvest), I knew I had to make a dieselpunk mech.
That was about 6 months ago. I finally got off my lazy ass and did it.
The walking is not perfect yet, but the visuals are done. Here's what I've named the Mk. X Windsor

By any chance have you heard of Scott Westerfeld's 'Leviathan' trilogy? Seems like something right up your alley, a nice blend of dieselpunk walking mechs and aerocraft mixed with biopunk living airships, and clockwork mechs along the way as well, all set in that WWI backdrop. One of the main characters is the heir to the Austrian throne, and drives a mech of his own as well.
If nothin' else, might give a few more ideas for other fancy dieselpunk mechs.

Nah, never heard of it. Took a glance at it, and while it seems interesting, I also find it odd that the Central Powers would be the the ones to be mechanizing their armies, considering the Brits invented the tank, followed by the French with the Germans struggling to keep up. However, that's just a nitpick, and I'd honestly be interested in taking a look at the books.

Ah, the thing with that is (and you'll just have to bear with me when it comes to this) the Brits had Charles Darwin on side, and in this universe he discovered how to splice animal DNA together in new and wonderful ways to create maintenance-lax creatures of war, which for some reason the logistics of such a massive creature are allowed to be overlooked quite readily while the author focuses down on the required logistics and limitations of the walkers and other central powers weapons. Brits didn't need the tank, they had things like gigantic monstrosities of flying whale airships and living observation balloons, and bats that pooed out flechettes.
Would at least be worthwhile checking out the illustrations if you can't find the books, they're really finely crafted for both the beasties and the mechanical aspects.
