Dumpster tank reporting in. It's about 1.5 times the height of an average person, weighs in at 7.3t, armored with 50mm thick plating, uses the smallest diesel V8 available, and is armed with 4 .50 machineguns. Relies on the innocent looking eye-like lamp to lure enemy soldiers into a false sense of security. I'm supposing there's no better place to ask than this thread - what's are the best ways/tricks to give legged contraptions (such as mechs) true functionality to their legs? As in, to prevent legs from constantly gliding on and off across the ground as the mech's body moves, and actually have a mech be dependent on its legs other than the other way around? Every time I tried building mechs legs never really 'stuck' to the ground e: Preferably with the basic vanilla-ish tools, such as physical properties/weight tool/etc

The closest I have seen to what you want was a free-swinging foot constrained with some creative rope placement being pushed in a downward circle by a pair of offset hydraulics, and even that "cheated" with advanced ball-sockets and had difficulty on uneven terrain. If by chance you are willing to come to the dark side (simulated movement) I would be more than happy to help.

Think that's basically having the body of whatever legged thing you're making move on its own through the dark magic of e2 while the legs just pretend to be doing something. That's how most mechs over here work.

If you're as anal as I am about replicas, you might consider other sources for in-game reference.
