A question...Already is available upload files with more than 200mb sized?
I guess my question will never be answered. :/ Thanks for nothing. Not even so much as a "give me some time, I'm busy".
Sheesh, I thought it would make sense. Why wouldn't the Workshop uploader support Windows XP when the effort was made to make damn sure that the game was Windows XP compliant.
I really don't see the logic here. Don't know why I bothered to post here about the problem in the first place then, if this is is all I get;
it doesn't cost $400 to update to windows vista/7/8 though..?
your OS is like 8 years old, Microsoft is done supporting it in 2 years, and I'm pretty sure Google just dumped support for Internet Explorer 7/8 (which is the same concept as this) - it's time to let go, upgrade your system.
Considering I've already explained my situation, I have no money to upgrade with, and my computer is incompatible with windows vista or higher. I find this a one-sided and very rude thing to do for those of us who are also stuck in a similar position. I'm sorry I don't have money to upgrade, but I also don't have the knowhow to forcibly make any sort of manual fix, so I've got to rely on the creator to do something about my issue, and when the creator provided support for my older system to let me play the game, I kinda figured it would only be fair to make the one and only program for uploading to the workshop compatible with the same operating systems as the game is.
If my logic is somehow flawed in any way, please educate me as to how in this world I'm wrong to assume as such.

Have you tried emailing him? I'm pretty sure he doesn't come into this forum much.
Guys I've been meaning to ask. What could happen if I don't "Gmod 13-ify" the files I'm uploading?
Or could I just upload files without a hitch?
I want to upload some certain models onto Workshop so the Gmod community can be able to easily access them.
If you upload something that doesn't work in gm13, it'll be trashed by the downvote fairies.
If you upload something that doesn't work in gm13, it'll be trashed by the downvote fairies.
I'll take that as a "It doesn't really matter." Then?
Well your stuff might end up being deleted.
Why do you want to upload non GM13 things?
Well your stuff might end up being deleted.

You can upload models, only lua scripts have changed.
You can upload models, only lua scripts have changed.
Thats what I intend to upload.
And I just wanted to know how to make non Gmod 13 items, Gmod 13 capable.
But if models are ok then that's fine.
But first I need to ask, Is Jason278 planning on putting all of his models onto the Workshop?
I'm p sure it says somewhere not to upload other people's stuff.
I'm p sure it says somewhere not to upload other people's stuff.
... without their permission.
Then I won't.
I have no way to contact him though, and I'm not sure he even goes on FP anymore.
Have you tried emailing him? I'm pretty sure he doesn't come into this forum much.
I've seen him post around, but I don't see much, I suppose I could try emailing him, but then again, he probably has thousands of emails to go through on a regular basis.
@those idiots who rated my post "dumb": You've obviously never been in a financial bind, have you? I can't just go up to my parents and say "Mommy, Daddy, I want a new computer" and magically get one. Grow up.

It's better to try than to hope.

No, people are rating you dumb because everyone else thinks your computer can run Win 8 as-is.
Why don't you grab a copy of it (MS are very nice about giving it away for free/discounted to students/kids) and pop it on a partition and see?
No, people are rating you dumb because everyone else thinks your computer can run Win 8 as-is
Yeah, I've got a laptop with a similar CPU and 3GB of RAM + a 64MB integrated graphics card and it runs Windows 8 better than it did 7, Vista, and Ubuntu. Do what Lexic says, install Windows 8 onto a separate partition and see how it goes.
And all of you must not understand what all I've already said. I've done my research, and I've even talked with Dell. (Who built the computer in the first place) and I've come to the conclusion that it won't work. Or it'll be very laggy, which isn't conducive to gaming. It doesn't cost money to make this damnable thing working for windows xp, however it does cost money to make my computer compliant with this. Which is the more logical thing to do? I'm not going to go out and spend 70 bucks on an operating system that will likely lag my system, when I could have a very reasonable request granted instead, and no one has to spend a dime. -.- So stop bitching that I need to upgrade, and just leave me alone. I don't have the money for it, so drop the fucking "upgrade or gtfo" bullshit.
Dell don't give a shit about you, the want you to buy a new computer and give them $$$. That's like asking your crack dealer if you should try rehab.
Regardless, I don't have enough money for a new version of windows, let alone an upgrade, so come off it already. -.- I'm fucking poor, get over it.

We are terribly sorry what we said to a poor man with no good computer like you.
[editline]24th December 2012[/editline]
Btw the same shit happened with me, i bought a new PC and wanted the company to install Windows 7 on it, and they said it wouldn't work, it will be laggy and all other shit (lazy morons). So i simply installed it and it did work, and it's still working.
Regardless, I don't have enough money for a new version of windows, let alone an upgrade, so come off it already. -.- I'm fucking poor, get over it.
You're a kid, MS gives shit to kids for free. There are tons of things that can get you a nice shiny ver of win8 pro legitimately and even if you somehow manage to fail to qualify for all of them you can still get it discounted to like $20.
So much offtop in this thread.
Did anyone manage to upload their un-uplodable files?
Yep. Pushed an update to one of my addons last week without any issues.
plus it has a pentium 4 3.40GHz processor, (which is one of the lesser processors in comparison to the core2duo) I can't upgrade. I've already looked into all my options, that and dell has said themself, that this computer would NOT handle upgrading to windows 7 well at all, it kinda means that I'm stuck.
And before you ask, I've also got 4 gb of ram, (only able to read 3 due to winxp), and a ATI Radeon HD 5750 video card with 1gb of vram. I can run the game just fine. It's windows 7 that I'm unable to run. If you haven't forgotten, the newer operating systems require more processing power to run them.

Windows 8 system requirements
If you want to run Windows 8 on your PC, here's what it takes:
Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with support for PAE, NX, and SSE2 (more info)
RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver
Are you going by what Dell is telling you, or have you actually tried running 7 or 8.
First of all, I'm 24 years old, enough kid stuff. And second of all, why suggest windows 8? It literally like, just came out. I'd rather windows 7. And if I'm going to get windows 7, I'd rather make sure I have a 64 bit processor first. My current hardware setup is incapable of 64 bit processing. Every last one of you are bitching and moaning about windows xp as if I'm saying I want compatibility with some backwater company's operating system that no one has ever heard about, what the hell is wrong with you? All I'm asking is that all parts of gmod be treated equally and be compatible with everything that the others are compatible with. What is so damned hard about that? If you refuse to provide windows xp compatibility for the uploader for workshop, why not revoke compatibility for gmod? Why does no one see this? "upgrade or gtfo" is one hell of a bullshit attitude, knock it off. I don't have the money for an upgrade, get the fuck over it.
I really wish Garry himself would post something about this issue so we can finally have some damned closure. I'm tired of dealing with people who aren't even part of the programming process.
The fuck? If you're 24 why do you keep going on about your parents buying you things?
Furthermore, no one else remotely cares about your crusade for equality. No one in this thread is going to do anything to help you (or indeed can) so if you want to be treated like an adult act like one. Take your thumb out of your ass, open your email client and send a mail to garrynewman@gmail.com detailing your many grievances and then shut up please.
:words:
Why suggest Windows 8? Who gives a shit if it just came out. It's cheap, reliable, and easy to use.
We're not telling you "oh lol u hav xp ur gay". No, we're saying it's cheap and easy to upgrade and your system can definitely handle it.
Edit:
Nice job randomly mentioning you're "24", no one said otherwise and that's normally a sign of insecurity. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
How many emails do you think Garry gets regularly? It's very unlikely my problem will be addressed.

Do you really think a 12 year old kid can type as well as I can? Complete grammar, proper spelling? Come on.
Do you really think a 12 year old kid can type as well as I can? Complete grammar, proper spelling? Come on.
Not all 12 year olds have bad grammar; most of them do, some don't.

Eh, either way, I've sent an email off to prove one way or another about whether this problem will be addressed by Garry.
Congratulations, your chances of success are now finally higher than 0%!
