I love how he tries to justify it. It's quite amusing. I wonder if hes young enough to think video games are real
Seriously? Jesus christ this kid is retarded.
I thought it was kind of cute.
One thing annoys me. Mad Cows got already uploaded once by Siminov itself, and it got removed 2 days after uploading. Now the another, what someone else had fixed from GM12 version, which was uploaded, was removed too (siminov even said that he can upload it). I don't get it. The workshop admins have gone mad or something? Removing the good things and letting the crappy stuff be.
Errors are the only thing that gets an addon off workshop.
I'm quite sure I didn't get any incompatibility messages, I checked errors. They were far from being off the charts. They never told me why they were removed.
One thing that's sad though is when addons for GMod12 when the creators abandon them or have no interest in fixing them and that is very sad because they are often good addons and cannot be used anymore unless someone fixes them and then people don't like when they are fixed and uploaded to the workshop because they didn't make them in the first place. I mean if the creator is still active or have issues with the Workshop or if the license incompatible I can understand not wanting to have it up, but what if the creator doesn't have any interest in fixing it? Should the addons just be left to be obsolete forever, and people who can't lua well or use the legacy system be left without them? Sorry for playing the devil's advocate here. Sometimes I just cant help but make an opinion. I except I will get many ratings of dumb or disagree, so I expect that.
No, you have a fair point. The question is where we draw the line between copycats and well-intentioned archivists.
I find it depends on several things: -- How active the original addon creator is (if they're around to fix and upload the addon themselves, it's polite to wait for them) -- Whether any effort was put into fixing them (uploading broken addons is a bad thing) -- Whether the original addon creator is credited (not crediting them or taking credit yourself is a bad thing. If the original addon creator can't be found, it's a pass, so long as you make it clear it's not yours, but at least try to make an effort -- I've seen addons that don't take that effort when it was a google away) -- If the creator has specifically said, "no workshop" (as with the OP of this thread) it's a jerkish thing to put it up anyways. -- And if it's GPL'd you should not put it up because the Workshop agreement is inherently incompatible with the GPL, from what Ive compared of the two. Edit: There may be one or two other things Im missing but I can't think of 'em right now. Another edit: If they ask you to take it down and you don't (or reupload it again) you're an evil, evil person.
Is Garry the only Workshop moderator? Also, yet another wiremod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=126688354 It also spams a lot of errors :V Edit: Woohoo, it was removed \o/
To be honest it's Wenli's own decision how he wants his addons to be uploaded and nobody should interfere with it because it's his work after all. I agree the amount of idiots that reupload shit just to reupload it make up most of workshop addons. Whether they do it in good faith or not it's simply annoying that people can't read authors wishes and adapt to them, but yeah the best we can do is report or in extreme cases keep our shit to our trusted friends.

There are more capable people around these forums who will fix the tools without his consent either way, but the fact is the tools were distributed by wenli without a license, and therefore he no longer has control over what happens to them.
this is why i never release anything
Its unfortunate that he disappeared and if he had taken a bit of foresight included the license, but ultimately, its his code. Anyways, if you dont maintain the addons, somebody else will. Theres not much you can do about that except trying to maintain the addon yourself. And what if garrysmod.org was purged like everyone wants? (Unless garry makes a torrent or something like the Toybox). Then those old, abandoned addons, if the "no copycats, period!" people get their way, will be lost forever. It just frustrates me when the people obviously posting it in good faith get lumped in with the bad uploaders.
It's really annoying when someone I blocked on Steam reuploads my stuff and says he made it. And then he wonders why I blocked his stupid ass in the first place.
THATS SO SLACK, HE'S SO CUTE! EVEN HIS DAD WAS PLAYING ALONG WITH HIM
