you could check if the sun is above the ghost, if it is kill him
Nice find!
However, most horror maps don't have sunlight. And my gamemode will be mostly used in realhorror maps.
gm_Construct is just to test it ;).
But I can implement this easily, if other people like this idea as well.

to add a more scary feel, you should make it to where when an evil ghost walks, you can see like dark cracks in like a trail be hind him (disappears after a few seconds), dark viney looking things that come off of them and kind of reach up walls or snake a across the floor (if you can)

Sounds scary :O, but I haven't got much experience in such effects. When the concept is more complete I will look into this.
I have to think of more game elements, like those hiding places. Cause the game doesn't feel complete. Anyone any ideas?

Just don't add any random screamers, like people do when they make their "horror mapz"
Try to make it feel scary, but without them. Heh. Tho, a special ghost that runs at you and screams maybe not a bad idea, but just without random picture of scary face popping up... That's just what i think.

This gamemode is all about making horror rly scary :).
I'm going to start working on the generator concept. You gotta charge a generator to make something in the map happen. For example to open a door.
I will also try to adjust the ghost to make it sometimes hunting down a generator, so you really have to protect your generators.
A ghost could absorb the energy within the generator over time? What would the ghos do with all that energy?

Charge the props and make the fly at player? :v:
Well it would be very difficult to let props follow the A.I. nodes.

If you need to protect your generator, could you have portable flood lights that run on a very limited battery life? That way, you can place one down near the generator every so often and if the ghost steps in to the light, similar to how the flashlight works.
You mean like the portable flashlight I had in the earlier versions of the gamemode?
I could convert this to LUA :)

I succesfully modified the external detector to become a generator, which you have to charge till 100%.
Once charged it will do something, for example, open a door. The battery will start to drain. You can charge it while it drains. When the battery hits 0%, the door will close again.
I have tested it with a door, but other things should work as well.
I still have to find a way to make this more dynamic. But it works.
So it will even work in maps that are not specially made for my gamemode.
It's now officially possible to integrate my gamemode on existing maps on the fly :)
If you type gr_save in console, it will save all the detectors, batteries, ghostpoints, hidingplaces and generators and will save the data in a file called mapname.txt.
For generators, there is a special tag called args. The save script will put here: "args:Name, action,Player,Player,ActionIfDepleted,Player,Player"
You will have to edit this manually. I left it this abstract so can controll everything you'd like in your map :). Even light entities :O.
If you type gr_load it will load up and spawn all things that were saved in the current map.

Is there no interest for my gamemode anymore ? As no suggestions are given.
I'm just waiting to see a release haha, can't wait to play it
Far as I can see it's going well. Haven't thought of any suggestions which might be added. Just keep updating us with whatever comes into your spooky mind. :)
A nice to see that people are still interested :)
A nice to see that people are still interested :)
I'm not much of a horror gaming fan but I would try this out.
I'm not much of a horror gaming fan but I would try this out.
I will try to find more time to code further on this :)
If you want people to be more involved, get more suggestions, and bugs, etc, I'd recommend releasing a beta version of this gamemode, or putting up a server

I know, but it's not really playable yet.
The first thing that I'm gong to do, is to change the NPC base to nextbot.
Then I will think of a way to make nodes that give 'hints' to the ghost what to do.
[editline]23rd August 2014[/editline]
I will try to host / release though when the game as a goal that you can achieve.
I have put this project on hold, because my study is about to begin and I need to work on a secret project first.
I won't let this die!!
And if someone thinks of an awesome feature, be sure to post!!
I will try to find more time to code further on this :)
I'm glad to hear that.
Hey, I've been playing around with sound.Generate and I've come up with some really cool horror ambience/scare sounds. Here's an example:

Anyways, I want to put these sounds to good use. You like?
Sounds slender-ish haha, I could use that for when the ghost is near.
I always had the idea of making a speciale zone, and when you enter that zone the ghosts
will become aware of you and run towards that zone. Maybe I could use the sound in that scenario?
Atm I'm tied up coding for my study, but I will continue to work on this! Don't know when though.
But I'll try to work on it in some of my weekends :).
If someone has got a great idea about new game elements, be sure to post! :)
Love you all!
