For the past month or so i've been having pretty consistent issues with gmod, and whenever I found fixes for them it would only be temporary. There's a lot I feel like I need to include, and I'm both technologically inept and not that intelligent to begin with, so bear with me while I try my best to explain.
So like I said, I've been having numerous, growing problems for the past month. I can't remember what it started as cause I have the memory of a goldfish, so i'll just bullet point the issues i've written down.
As a general basis, these issues always occur at the point where I have loaded into a server, directly after sending client info. They only occur if I have any addons installed, so im able to join games if I have it set to not install any add ons, But I literally only play on one server and some addons are necessary to even get past the start menu, so playing without them isnt possible. This problem seems to occur with any server I try joining that uses addons.
Very rarely my entire PC will crash, giving me the blue screen and forcing me to restart.
A white overlay will cover the entire screen (Unless im windowed, in which case it will only cover the tab for gmod). This overlay covers menus and the console, and the only way to exit the game is by exiting while in windowed mode or through task manager. After a while, I eventually get booted by anticheat (Believe me im way to inept to cheat in the first place, nor do I have any reason to want to).
Im able to get into the game, typically only when I have a few addons installed, However getting past the server menu and loading into a character (Im not sure how this works for servers where you dont chose a character, but I assume it is as follows) will result in my screen being covered entirely in either a black or white overlay (it shifts depending on where im looking in game). I'm still able to see game chat and the pause menus, but its as if im blind outside of that, making it unplayable.
I haven't had this problem in a while, but the entire gmod tab would go invisible. I don't know how to explain it, but its as if im tabbed out even though Gmod is opened. I can still hear whatevers going on in game, but thats about it.
This is server specific, since it uses clockwork, but if I don't have any add ons installed (barring the map) the entire screen will be covered in a pink checkboard error instead of a white or black overlay. Functions the same as the other issue, where I can access console and the menus and chat, but thats all I can do. It might be worth noting that if I pause I can see the actual game, but only while im paused.
So that's about it for my suffering so far, now for what i've tried doing to fix it. Which is a lot.
Verifying gmods cache, including all other source games before launching.
Deleting/unsubbing from all addons.
Deleting/disconnecting all other source games from gmod.
Deleting and reinstalling gmod.
Factory restoring Gmod.
Disabling steam overlay.
Adjusting graphics settings, including resolutions.
Launching the game in windowed mode.
Disabling add ons from downloading automatically while joining a server, including maps.
Running the chromium branch.
Trying different directx Versions
Updating drivers.
updating windows (Windows 10 has caused severe issues in the past for me while trying to launch and play games, so I wouldn't be surprised if windows is at fault for this too).
Virus scans (Sat through an hour long scan just to be told nothing was wrong).
Factory restoring my entire PC (Yeah, it's gotten that bad)
I've tried other things but memory's bad. That's about it, don't know what else to say except for please end my suffering.
