Why is it bullshit? If you were caught doing something illegal, you can't just say, "I didn't know it was illegal." or "I only did it for an hour." It's the fact that you did something illegal that gets you arrested.
Using hacks isn't illegal, but it is against Steam and Garry's Mod Terms of Service. Since you violated the ToS, you are denied the right to service. It's simple as that. Doesn't matter how long you used it, doesn't matter that you didn't know it was a violation of the ToS, just matters that you did it.

Fine, don't rebuy the game after being rightfully disallowed to play it, see if I, or anybody else who DOESN'T condone hacking in gmod, stop you.
Also, I like how you say he is just looking for money off of a $10 game that 1. Could me much more, and 2. Is always on sale on steam. Not only that, but considering the money he has ALREADY made from the game all the way back from gmod10, I'm sure he doesn't care about the MAYBE $1,000 he will miss out on by banned people not rebuying the game. Rest assured, I'm sure he doesn't care if you banned hackers rebuy his game, because that's why he banned you from the entire game in the first place. Be thankful that he isn't HID or IP banning like a lot of other games do for similar offenses.

The funniest part is people only regret cheating once they've been banned. Meaning that it has annoyed people to a point where they have had to actively work to eradicate people like you and after all the annoyances you have caused by cheating over people who play fairly, you think a simple 'Sorry' should do the trick.
'Sorry' but if you've hacked, you deserved it no matter what you knew what you were doing and even if you only did it 'on a friends server' you are just another person who used the hack. You are just a number, there are at least a 100 more people like you who 'regret' it over being caught.

The real plague of SethHack wasn't the hack itself it was his community that enabled them all to have easy access to network attack/server crashing tools.
Hacks will always exist, I actually have no hate for someone trying to make money from selling something like SethHack, there is a market and he must have made over 50k from it.
If he'd actually left it at that he probably wouldn't have been hunted so much by Garry and others. The fact that they where enabling massive scale attacks against facepunch and server owners is where people start drawing the line. This major point is where people go "Ok ... we can't allow this twat to continue ..." and then the community gets together and tells him to fuck off basically.
And then we have a deep hatred for anyone who supporter SethHack, because by buying it you where directly supporting a community that is responsible for the closure of some damn good game servers. We still don't give a fuck, you supported the actions of that community so you deserve more than a simple steamid ban in my eyes.

I agree on this, while even if you have the hack, you obviously have the intent to do SOMETHING with it just by having it. Either trying it, contributing to it, or distributing it, all of which are wrong. I don't blame game-hack developers either because it is definitely a finite market that can be really profitable. HOWEVER, everybody that uses hacks shouldn't be dumb enough to ignore the fact that they can get banned from the game they are hacking in. That's just senseless ideology if you don't think you might eventually get in trouble for it. I think this is really only an issue because before "GVAC" was put into play anybody could do what they want. Now that they all got banned with little warning they are all crying about it, even though it was clearly written in TOS (which isn't even that long to read...)
