How did you fix it? Also, removing all .dll's and .exe's then executing steam.exe and try to start the server didn't work. Ok, I did flushconfig as it says here, this are the results. He fixed another, unrelated problem. You could also try disabling all antiviruses/any other software on your PC and trying again.
Still doesn't works, do you think its my computer?
I have no idea what it is.
Okay, something is wrong with his Windows.. Something is missing i think... Did you've installed .NET Framework and stuff like this? I was able to run the Server after starting another games on Steam (which installs these libraries from Microsoft) This file i had used to update/install the Server: steamcmd.exe +runscript gmod.txt gmod.txt
@ShutdownOnFailedCommand 1 //set to 0 if updating multiple servers at once @NoPromptForPassword 1 login anonymous force_install_dir ./rp_server app_update 4020 -beta Dev validate quit
start.bat
srcds.exe -game garrysmod -console +maxplayers 72 +map rp_townsend_v2 -authkey MySpecialAuthKeyForWorkshop +host_workshop_collection MyWorkshopCollectionWithTownsendV2 +sv_defaultgamemode darkrp +sv_log 1 -debug
Ok, one thing you can test i think, try running it with admin privileges.. (After settings this, start the .bat again, it will ask you for permission (if UAC is enabled!)) If it all does not work, which Windows Version are you running? 64 or 32bit? Type of CPU (intel or amd)? Do you have Admin Privileges and which state have your UAC (is it disabled, or enabled?) In which location you'r installing the Server? do you have full read access to this directory? Greets SeaLife
1- It won't let me mark the box, I tried running it as admin using right click and this happened Its in Spanish but it says that windows couldn't find srcds.exe when I clearly have and my start.bat is ok. (UAC is enabled). That is what I mean with right click. 2- Windows 7 64 bits. 3- Intel. 4- Like, it lets me run stuff as admin if I use right click but as I said before It wouldn't let me mark the box. It is enabled. 5- C:\GMOD. I think so.
Simply, i told you to add the "Run as Administrator" flag to the srcds.exe ... If you start the "start.bat" as Administrator, the Workspace of the Batch-File is in c:/Windows/System32 (And of course, srcds.exe does not exist in C:/Windows/System32) Do: Rightclick SRCDS.exe -> Properties -> mark "Run as Administrator" -> Start the bat file. !! DO NOT RUN THE BAT FILE AS ADMINISTRATOR. :) (like in my picture above) Greets SeaLife

Uh, any ideas guys?
Uh, any ideas guys?
As others have already mentioned, you're dealing with a really strange issue. I am working on the assumption you ruled out an antivirus/software issue. Mind posting your server specs?

Alright. I'll give a few of my thoughts. As I mentioned in the PM I am currently in class so I'll be able to give you a more detailed breakdown when I return. My initial thought upon seeing your speccy would be your computer is not well suited for hosting servers. Your i3 seems to be running hot (unless its under heavy load at the moment) and [DEL]4gb of ram is somewhat low for SRCDS[/DEL] considering the high RAM overhead used by windows. Hopefully ram isn't the issue as I've never run SRCDS on a computer with anything less than 8gb. As for your SRCDS error, every amount of research I do on your issue comes up fruitless. I can safely say you are one of probably about three people I've seen with this issue and not one of them has indicated it has been resolved. As a last attempt at fixing this, I would go ahead and completely erase everything pertaining to your server install INCLUDING steamcmd. Once you are positive everything is gone, I would go ahead and install SRCDS via a fresh steamcmd install. If that doesn't work, I am fairly certain that your only option is to reinstall windows, or use a separate computer altogether. It is very rare that any troubleshooting results in that prognosis, but you are dealing with something completey undiscovered. Edit as promised: Looking back, I retract what I said about RAM. If you aren't hosting a large amount of players, 4GB should be fine. What I said about your CPU though still stands. I do mean it when I say research is turning up nothing. Honestly I've only seen a few people who mention having this error, and drop off the face of the earth after ever mentioning it. My last still goes; if I were you, I'd completely erase your entire server installation including every steamcmd file as well. Reinstall your server in a new location. Make sure you're installing appid 4020 (Gmod dedicated server). If this doesn't work, I really would implore you to test it on a new computer entirely, or just wipe everything and reinstall windows. I know either of those things may not be options for you, but considering myself and many others have tried fruitlessly to help you, and the fact that there isn't any other substantial history of this error even being replicated, it may be your only option. Hope this helps.
