then save up more, because you'd maybe get something that'd run Word at that price, might even have to get preowned then
Ugh, give me strength. Also, it's £360. Why did you quote it as being £150 in an earlier post?

It seems like a good deal, but I thought you said cases that came with PSUs were the devil? Make up your mind :colbert:
okay maybe £220 if you get a pretty bad monitor and OS
and cheap PSUs that come with cheap cases are bad, CM is great for budget cases and PSUs.
He's not getting a monitor or an OS. He's using his old OS (so nice job banning him whoever did that), and he's not getting a monitor until christmas time. The budget is £360, not £220, not £150.
Good point on the case, I'll try and swing him round to the idea.
What was wrong with my suggestion?
According to TheMadness, the case is bad. I *think* the processor is weaker and more expensive than the one I suggested. The graphics card is weaker but that might be okay. The HDD is smaller but that might be okay. The mobo is a micro mobo? Your ram is out of stock. Your DVD drive is just as fine and standard as any. A keyboard is a keyboard. A mouse is a mouse.
Just thought I'd throw this into the mix.

You'll likely have to go a tiny bit over your budget to get a case, but I'd say it's worth it.
That's pretty cool, GJ. How fast is that HDD?
And what is it that makes it better? Is AM3 loads better than AM2? I don't know much about processors, admittedly.

It's nothing special, just the standard performance for a 7200RPM SATAII HDD.

Although they might both share the same clock speed, the Phenom II 545 is going to be at least 50% faster, if not more, since it uses the newer Phenom II technology. So that means a bigger on-board cache, more efficient cores, etc.

What should I upgrade to? Currently on an AMD x64 x2 (WHICH BY THE WAY PLAYS TF2 ON FULL AT HIGHEST SETTINGS ALONG WITH MY 4890 AND 4GB OF RAM @ whoever said that tf2 won't work on this build)
Thanks Wiggles, I'll inform Kane of your suggestions tomorrow.
