Let's get back on topic; I need an answer now.
A friend of mine who works in Geek Squad said to press the Delete key before boot-up and select the 'Boot from disc' option. Does that work? I cannot access the BIOS and I want it fixed in the most short amount of time possible.
It depends on the machine. Did you boot into bios and set it to boot from cd first? On some computers the esc key will do the same thing. And why are you asking us if it works? Just do it and find out.

ninja'd.
Should work, but the key varies between machines. My Eee PC uses Esc for that, so I have no idea what yours uses.
Mine's especially crazy, it's alt+F2
I managed to get into the BIOS but I cannot change the boot order; it stays stuck on 'USB Device'. Either that or I'm missing something.
This is pissing me off; my dad is saying that Ubuntu did something when Windows most likely overwrote stuff. Help!
I will have to purchase a new hard drive because the current one is most likely dead. However, my dad is saying not to put Ubuntu onto the new HD because it'll just crash again. I don't see how I can reason with him and Windows discs cost $140; he researched that himself. I'd rather have Ubuntu as it takes us less space and is more efficient.
How do I convince him that Ubuntu isn't bad, that it was Windows that caused the problem?
You don't. He's obviously too thick for that.
Not thick, but stubborn. I'm a bit stubborn as well so I guess it runs in the family. :banjo:
Still, I don't get how GRUB can crash without Windows to overwrite stuff, right?
There are viruses and malware available for Linux.
You say it like I can get them through APT, YUM or even synaptic :v:
They are indeed out there, but I've never seen em before.
1. How do I put Ubuntu on a CD so I can install/uninstall it whenever? Please explain the whole install process.
2. Do I need Linux to run Ubuntu?
3. Is it possible to run certain programs (such as Steam or Windows games) on Ubuntu?
4. Is Ubuntu a good replacement for Windows?
5. Am I able to use ATI/Realtek drivers with Ubuntu? (As my computer came with those in them already.) If not, any free drivers I can download?
6. Is it possible to use a Linksys wireless USB Internet connection with the Ubuntu?
7. Do I need a keyboard/mouse for Ubuntu or can I use the Windows keyboard/mouse?
8. What antivirus software is available for Ubuntu?
9. Post any other comments/answers if you want.
Thanks in advance, guys.
Hope this helps as it's from the perspective of someone who just got it.
1: You just burn the iso you download from the website onto a CD. That's it.
2:Ubuntu IS Linux, there are different "Distrobutions" or versions of it.
3:You can emulate windows but how well it will work will be questionable. Say goodbye to a webcam if you have one, though you may be able to get a mic to work. It's usually really hard to get hardware to work with linux because is no such thing as plug and play. It might be easier to get bluetooth versions of some hardware like mics because bluetooth is all standardized.
4:So far it's been wonderful to use, totally fine for everyday use. Just lacks the options that windows has due to everything being made for windows and incompatible with everything else.
5:Sorry, no clue. My linux desktop has no graphics card.
6:Same as above, I just use a wired connection.
7:Any standard mouse/keyboard will work.
8:You don't need any. On Ubuntu you automatically download free software any time you want from a program, and it's all tested virus free. I've never heard of someone getting a virus on linux.
