Won't the plastic on the dvi/VGA ports melt? And the outer casing on the VRAM?
That's why you are only suppose to bake it at a specific temperature for a short period of time. Also, the "casing" of the VRAM will not melt. Do you know how they were soldered onto the board in the first place?
@B1NARY! : Magic. What about the dvi/VGA ports? Does 380-385 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 minutes sound good? Yeah bfg shut down :/ will I be able to reuse the thermal pads from the VRAM? Also you aren't supposed to use conductive thermal paste on graphics cards cause it might overflow but I was wondering which thermal pastes are good to use(I have some mx2, arctic silver, and the kind that came with my hyper 212+). (sorry if that didn't make sense. I'm tired) thanks guys
@B1NARY! : Magic. What about the dvi/VGA ports?
First sentence. It's also a good idea to wrap up all plastic parts and capacitors with heavy duty aluminium foil
Third sentence. How does 380 degrees fahrenheit for 8 minutes sound? Wrap plastic parts, gpu down, clean off thermal paste, foil. Got it. I hope this works. I'll probably be posting tomorrow night to tell if it works. How long should I let it cool down for? Thanks
Won't the plastic on the dvi/VGA ports melt? And the outer casing on the VRAM? Also, to anyone else that has done it or looked into it, any tips? Temps, times, ect. ? Thanks.
Don't you take off the cover plate on the back, just to oven the PCB?
@thf: that's what I was thinking....how do I do that?
I don't know at all, I just assumed you could do that :v:
You can. Someone suggested you can wrap it in foil but they are durable. Can I reuse the thermal pads on the VRAM? Should I make it so the GPU is facing up or down?
You guys are fucking halirious. Im laughing so fucking hard right now. My friend helped me take it apart (he took apart his psp like 8 times so the clip part was a piece of cake) we cleaned it off, put it in the oven for 9 minutes at 380 degrees. This piece of plastic melted that made it so i cant put the end bracket on but whatever. It fucking works. I thought all of you were trolling but this is legit. FP rocks. Thanks again guys!
I'm happy for your succes.
Its working so far. Im really happy. 100+ fps in l4d2 at all times. Usually 150-200 :) Now to get a SSD. Would 32GB be enough for my OS, and maybe l4d2, chrome and steam? I want those things to open right when i get to my desktop. Thanks guys

Thanks guys
Windows 7 takes up around 15GB, and if you want to install steam on it with L4D2 (~6GB) you should be fine, however you will NOT be able to install alot of other Steam games due to the fact it all has to go onto the SSD. Personally i'd suggest getting the OCZ Vertex 2 60GB
Will I notice increased speeds with l4d2 (like loading times?) this would mainly be just for my os though.
Will I notice increased speeds with l4d2 (like loading times?) this would mainly be just for my os though.
You will notice one hell of a performance boost with SSDs.
Once again the Oven saves the day. Also I would discourage installing L4D2 on a 30GB SSD, Windows 7 + Steam + Chrome will be enough, although I would suggest sticking your Anti-Virus program on there too if its lightweight, you need to leave a spare area for TRIM to function fully.
OS, Steam, Chrome, and Microsoft security essentials(?). What would putting my antivirus on it do? It's a 32GB samsung
Microwave method? Are you now trying to permanently destroy the card even further as well as taking out the microwave as well?
He must like his cards crispy.
