It really isn't that different to Vista, it's more refined but nothing majorly different (like the massive changes from XP to Vista with the re-written sub-systems, 7 is pretty much the same as Vista under the hood)
It's awesome but not worth an upgrade from Vista.
Not really, i prefer vista.
Xp < 7
Its better than Vista.
That should be more than enough to motivate you to buy it.
Windows 7 is Vista and XP combined, just even better.
Had it for a year and only ran into 2-3 problems which all were my fault. Which most faults are for anyone.
Is it worth getting ASAP or is it better to wait for Windows 8? :v:
This is like L4D2, wheres the boycott groups?
Microsoft this is stuff what vista was supposed to have.
Gabe this is stuff what L4D was supposed to have.
At least you can go back to L4D without formatting your computer to uninstall L4D2. :downs:
Vista or 7, they both have the worst fucking trouble with networking. Don't be surprised when for no apparent reason you have no internet connection.
Vista does, 7 does not.
Vista does, 7 does not.
Never had this problem on either. In fact I never heard a report of someone having this in Vista/7 specifically before.
With a fresh install of Windows 7 on my laptop, it took a full 2 minutes for MSN to load once logged in. Now it loads in less than 30 seconds.
Jesus, has MSN gotten that shitty over the years? Pidgin takes a second to load if you don't count the connection time, and when I was a kid MSN used to be almost instantaneous too.

The only networking trouble I've encountered was due to hardware problems, otherwise networking in Vista and 7 seems much faster and more reliable than in XP.

Actually replace "seems" with "is", since networking in Vista and 7 doesn't make me want to tear my hair out.

There isn't a new kernel. It's still NT.
The problem with Seven is the fact that some graphic cards (Mine is GeForce 9500 GT) have problems for playing games. Even with the latest downloaded driver.
I think I will return to XP 64-bit (temporarily) if I don't find how to fix it. (Also you can see my problem in the FAQ thread)
This PC runs Windows 7 better than it ran XP.

What problem?
What problem?
Here:
Good day everyone ! I need your help for a big problem I have:
All of my games are running slow, for no apparent reason, with Windows Seven x64 (ALL, even Team Fortress 2 or Half-Life 2). My computers settings are:
-Intel Pentium Dual Core CPU E6300 2.8Ghz
-NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (with the last downloaded driver: GeForce/ION Driver Release 195.62 WHQL)
-4GO of RAM
I don't know what I should do, but I just don't want to return at XP (lol 32bits), because it's useless for all of games like Mirror's Edge, Mass Effect, GTA IV and others.
Thanks for your reponses.

Ah and I just wanted to say that diseable all of the "Windows Seven effects" did nothing to ameliorate my frame.
It's like one-two minutes in-game "It's okay" and then "What the hell is going on?" with now 8-11 fps
Meh, still not as good as XP.
Better then Vista, but thats not too hard.

I dare you to make a valid argument.
Here:
What are your temps like and have you updated drivers?
Meh, still not as good as XP.

XP is outdated, Vista is fine, 7 is better than both.
Vista<XP=7.
You may disagree with me, but this is mine conclusion after using all of them.
I use windows 7 I like it so much:)

Pretty much that. Except that XP is starting to get old, being almost decade old and all.
Pretty much that. Except that XP is starting to get old, being almost decade old and all.
Which, well, is completely irrelevant. As long as it still does what you need it to do, no one cares how old it is.

I do.
I say upgrade... Everything I have read in this thread that has said windows 7 isn't worth it sounds like it is coming from people who do not have 7 or are taking opinions from other people on 7.
I have had no issues with Windows 7. It is completely worth it. You can literally plug anything into your computer and have it running within seconds without manually installing drivers. There are a lot of new features and I have noticed a better performance than that of previous versions of Windows.
Simply put:
XP: 9 years old, starting to show its age.
Vista: Shit
7: Updated XP.
