I don't see why you would think they'd lie about their own rigs but okay. This is strictly from what I've heard.

It's common to blame the companies when something goes wrong with your rig.
So, I've been looking and Microcenter is selling 5770s for $170-ish. These are comparable to GTX 260s, if I'm thinking correctly. Good buy?

Find one for $~160 or less, like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161317

The only reason I considered the one from Microcenter was since it was XFX and someone said previously that it has a double lifetime warranty which would be really nice to have.

Oh ok, I wasn't sure if XFX offered their double lifetime on all their products or just a select few.

Oh, I was under the impression it was to all. I haven't a clue. I'll check their site.
What do they mean with a double lifetime warranty?
What do they mean with a double lifetime warranty?
Meaning the warranty covers you and the card's next owner if there is one.

It's absolute bull shit and nothing more.
If you're really going to go buy everything you hear.
Good luck in life. :toot:

Yeah, I guess you're right. I should just jump without looking and buy an expensive piece of hardware without any recommendation.

you should be looking at unbiased opinions
there are a lot of ATi owners with no problems at all
just because someone you know has problems doesn't mean they all do
The GTS 250 and Q9400 setup is fine.
that'd be hardly a performance step up from a 9600GT as far as graphics go

Okay, so after talking around a bit and taking your opinions into account. For strictly gaming, would it be beneficial to use a higher clocked dual core over a quad core? I'm not sure how close we are to seeing quads utilized in most games. Deciding between a GTX 260 or a 5770? I've got a somewhat cramped case so my air cooling isn't the best and with my experience, Nvidia cards have always run a little hotter due to higher power consumption. I've also been told DirectX 11 may be a huge improvement compared to 9 -> 10.
Unless you're set on wanting DX11 support, get an ATI 4890.
9400 and a 5770.
Get the powercolor 1GB if you want free DiRT2

Are they still dishing those out?
