Guys. I got this problem with Fallout 3. I've been talking with Bethesda Tech Support. Anyway, they tell me to not upgrade to 7. Fallout 3 will not work in it. Can someone confirm this, or tell them that they're wrong?
I have Windows 7 64bit and have no problems at all running it.
I friggin hate it when people say 32-bit supports 3.25GB RAM. And I instantly lose respect for people that act like they know shit and then say that.
People who actually know shit realize that this is only a limitation of 32-bit when no PAE is available.
Good day everyone ! I need your help for a big problem I have: All of my games are running slow, for no apparent reason, with Windows Seven x64 (ALL, even Team Fortress 2 or Half-Life 2). My computers settings are: -Intel Pentium Dual Core CPU E6300 2.8Ghz -NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT (with the last downloaded driver: GeForce/ION Driver Release 195.62 WHQL) -4GO of RAM I don't know what I should do, but I just don't want to return at XP (lol 32bits), because it's useless for all of games like Mirror's Edge, Mass Effect, GTA IV and others. Thanks for your reponses.
Graphics in every game looks kind off blurry for me. It was great in XP but it looks really odd in Win7. I have the latest drivers, 1950xtx. V-sync doesn't matter, it looks the same. Someone has any idea?
I was generalizing. After 3 GB of ram you should get 64bit anyways.
Sure, but when you put "3.25GB is 32-bit's limitation", into a FAQ, then people who don't know this stuff (and don't pretend like they know it to begin with), will think that it's true and go around spreading misinformation. [editline]07:23PM[/editline]
People who actually know shit realize that this is only a limitation of 32-bit when no PAE is available.
It still wouldn't be 3.25GB.
Ah and I just wanted to say that diseable all of the "Windows Seven effects" did nothing to ameliorate my frame. It's like one-two minutes in-game "It's okay" and then "What the hell is going on?"
It still wouldn't be 3.25GB.
Never said otherwise.
It still wouldn't be 3.25GB.
what would it be then?
what would it be then?
4GB subtract all the various ram in your other devices
4GB subtract all the various ram in your other devices
No, that's still wrong. 4GB minus all addressable memory. It doesn't have to be RAM. Memory needs to be read using addresses too, even if not written to.
Sorry I was off by a whole 256MB :downs:
It's not 3.25 GB either. Have you been reading what we've been saying or not?
There needs to be a common knowledge - things you should know megathread that's stickied with this kind of info. Speaking about the RAM.
Is it possible to install and activate an upgrade edition through a custom install on a blank/formatted hard drive? I've read on a few websites that it is possible, but I need some serious clarification before I potentially waste my money.

On the first install when it asks you for the cd key just hit next to get past that without entering a key (basically installing a trial). After it finishes the install go back and do a clean install again and it should take the key that time. Basically the gists of it.

Just a registry change.
Actually you don't have to do that anymore. Just a registry change.
Well that would be a lot easier than the old method. Do you know what you have to change exactly now?
http://www.winsupersite.com/win7/clean_install_upgrade_media.asp Jump down to Method 2.
Oh cool, thank you. That could be useful in the future.
Actually you don't have to do that anymore. Just a registry change.
I didn't even have to do that. For some reason it just activated...
Windows 7 made my games slower than XP! Go back to XP if you hate it so much and live with your bloated, plastic-colored, I-run-everything-as-an-administrator-which-is-a-great-idea operating system and get that whole 2 FPS back. If you have any more questions i'd be happy to answer them and add them to this list.
Lol. I don't really see the problem buddy, I activated administrator on vista and 7 too.
Great, thanks for the help guys. Tools all around!
Sorry I was off by a whole 256MB :downs:
Without PAE it would be 4GiB minus all adressable memory. With PAE it would be 64GiB minus all adressable memory. (In theory) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_Address_Extension
I'm getting the same problem as Ezhik and ADT with bad performance in games. TF2 runs at a max of 20 FPS even with everything on low. Drivers are up to date, yadda yadda. Intel Quad 9450 3.05 Ghz 4 GB RAM ATI Radeon HD 4670
For the x64 driver signing issues: http://www.citadelindustries.net/readydriverplus/ Worked on Vista, probably still works for 7.

I believe you right click on the shortcut and go to compatibility and turn of desktop composition and visual themes. It should do the trick, or atleast it worked for me.
Turn off aero when running games. I believe you right click on the shortcut and go to compatibility and turn of desktop composition and visual themes. It should do the trick, or atleast it worked for me.
No. Doesn't affect anything.

I'll keep tinkering around and see what I can get out of it. Thanks again.
What is 'Windows Anytime Upgrade'? It says it's included on my OEM Home Premium x64 disc.
