Does anyone have a link to that media centre enhancement thing I saw buried deep within the megathread? I want to take a look at it, it was interesting to see if I remember right.
So how do I know what programs will work on x64?
WOW64 will intercept all operating system calls made by 32 bit applications and convert them to 64 bit data. From what I've read, the 32 bit applications you'll have problems with are; 32 bit device drivers, and applications that will not function without their 32 bit device drivers. Application extensions using code injection will also have problems. 16 bit applications has been pretty much scrapped, however there are some work-arounds.

It simply loads from SysWOW64.
No. Doesn't affect anything.
Right, which is why I gained over 10 FPS doing it on some games.

Off-topic question: why can't Microsoft do something similar to WOW64 to allow 16-bit applications to run on 64-bit Windows? Or can they and they just chose not to?
Or can they and they just chose not to?
This. It's a bit of a pain in the ass, too.
