I like the look of mine.
Okay nevermind my complaining, did a bit of digging through about:config, and set "gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled" to true. I am content. :buddy:
Tabs along the titlebar have been default for FF4 ever since about b10. The tabs are only below the Firefox button when the window isn't maximised. [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Haaaaaaa goddamn the text rendering is the same as in b11 Large text is not smooth, and the proportions are screwed up on certain text
Oh okay, pretty much have no complaints then. I'll probably switch back over to it as a primary browser again due to adblock blocking video ads, while chrome can't cause google refuses to add the code to let devs do it.
Using Chrome 10 beta and loving it. Firefox just seemed too sluggish, and clicking on links would always time out, when Chrome rips through web pages quickly, like I expect ANY browser to.
Still using Firefox 3 and i don't regret it one bit.

It might be time to switch back to Firefox.
UI is nice and clean but, it is just so small.
I prefer to get rid of all buttons.
having a back and forward button is pretty handy, even if the default is ugly.
Mine won't update It told me it has updated, but it still says beta 11
having a back and forward button is pretty handy, even if the default is ugly.
mouse4 and mouse5
Sorry ladies, but I need my browser buttons (grouped together, unlike IE7, 8, 9...) and my bookmark toolbar. it makes shit so easy. My bookmarks don't have labels either, they all have favicons.

Is there a fix short of disabling directwrite altogether?

You'll lose some of the rendering performance, but the text won't look like ass

They're not hard to read, they're just incredibly narrow looking. Will I still have the benefits of hardware acceleration in other aspects with this?

Anyone read the bug reports for the beta versions? Honestly, half of them are: MY FAVORITE THEME DOESN'T WORK, FIX IT FIX THIS THIRD PARTY ADDON, IT WON'T DOWNLOAD EVEN THOUGH YOU SAY IT WON'T WORK

"Hovering over links now displays the URL at the bottom of the window rather than in the location bar" this confused me for a minute there, almost as much as when they moved the home button
Oh thank fuck, you can drag a tab into a new window now and it doesn't reload the fucking page.
Firefox just seemed too sluggish
yeah I've had issues with chrome just taking time to actually send the http get request to the website, it would sit at the blank white loading page and it just wouldn't be sending any data, claiming it was loading. issue persists through all builds and occurs sporadically on a variety of platforms. this alone disparages my will to use it. and my text renders fine
This should be good.
I don't like the new font rendering. It's blurry in a lot of spots.
On thing I hate, I can just slam my mouse to the top of the window (maximized on my 2nd monitor), and change tabs, with this shit you have to accurately position your mouse on the tab since it doesn't go to the top of the window.

Let's see how my memory leak problem is with the beta... [editline]26th February 2011[/editline] Weird, everytime I use the search bar my session crashes. Other than that my memory leak issue has reduced to 1/8 of the usage.
having a back and forward button is pretty handy, even if the default is ugly.
alt+left, alt+right
"Hovering over links now displays the URL at the bottom of the window rather than in the location bar" this confused me for a minute there, almost as much as when they moved the home button
I hate that, Minefield has had it for quite some time. Having the URL in the location bar was a great idea, they should bring back the option.
