I just started using the firefox 4 beta. Text looked smoother in 3.X. Does the beta change some settings?
Actually this might be an entirely different font.
Nice try Mozilla, but the 3 year long release cycles got me into Chrome and I'm not going back.
[QUOTE=Zeke129;28310176]I hate that, Minefield has had it for quite some time.
Having the URL in the location bar was a great idea, they should bring back the option.[/QUOTE]
And I hated that. They should do the Firefox thing and add an option.

This is actually my first time using Firefox in a year or so, I've switched back from Chrome. So, this is probably a dumb question.
How the hell do I stop it from fucking up my posts? Every time I edit a post it takes away the BB code, but it tries to create the element in the editing field.
Why is Firefox looking more and more like Chrome...
[QUOTE=areolop;28311910]Why is Firefox looking more and more like Chrome...[/QUOTE]
Because more and more of Mozilla's dev team is dry for original ideas.

Yeah Panorama was stolen from Chrome
Wait a moment

Occasionally has crashing bugs and data corruption. Your experience may vary. I don't consider that a release.
Safari is looking duller than ever when competing with todays modern browsers. Gah, it's so ugly and tabs at the bottom suck.
Tabs on bottom for life. Less mouse traveling for touchpad users. :frogc00l:
I loathe and despise the new flashing popup statusbar.
I just got used to and started to like the way the party was at the top of the screen and now they've started spewing it all around the window again.

I've been using the nightly FF4 builds pretty much since they've existed and have never had a single crash or instance of "data corruption". For the vast majority of users they are every bit as stable as the beta releases.
I still have yet to figure out what this does

I can't make a new tab group or anything, it just seems like a fancy visual tab preview

Euhh you can draw squares where you can drag tabs into, I guess you can save/bookmark a set of tabs that way.
Like this?
[url=http://i.imgur.com/OBJfv.png][img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/OBJfv.png[/img_thumb][/url]
:downs:
Just drag tabs from each group out, and then drag other tabs into the separated ones to make them a group. Not hard really.
I guess I can see how it'd be useful. But I'll probably never use it.
Wow, I like this actually.
Bye Chrome.
I can't find beta 13 on the roadmap anymore. We might see an RC land soon if it was indeed removed. There are no hardblockers left other than some meaningless System requirements bug (See: [url=canweshipyet.com]Can we ship yet?[/url])
[QUOTE=Zeke129;28339538]I've been using the nightly FF4 builds pretty much since they've existed and have never had a single crash or instance of "data corruption". For the vast majority of users they are every bit as stable as the beta releases.[/QUOTE]
I'm sorry but that's a really dumb thing to say. They are not every bit as stable as the beta releases at all. Ever. Nightly builds are compiled as-is. Sometimes developers commit changes that aren't finished yet, sometimes the build doesn't even compile. Sometimes it crashes. Sometimes you lose all of your bookmarks. This happens regularly, and looking at a few Firefox bug reports would show you this in a very obvious way. It happens with betas too, but less often.
And anyway, why are we talking about [I]the vast majority of users[/I]? People like to pull that out of nowhere all the time, even when it makes no sense. The vast majority of users do not give a shit about Firefox betas (or firefox versions at all), really. If the vast majority of users used nightlies, we'd see even [B]more[/B] bugs because there would be more coverage testing.
Crashing bugs happen. This does not mean everyone will crash, but you regularly see certain code paths come up on the bug tracker from crash report statistics. This isn't just an anecdote like your experience is, but fact (even though I am sure you aren't lying about being lucky with the nightlies. I ran them too before)
Here's another anecdote: I ran a Firefox 3.6 beta back then and lost all of my bookmarks. This was a known bug, and was fixed in the next beta. I had backups, of course. This stuff happens, and has an even higher chance of occurring with nighly builds. Like I said, [B]your results may vary[/B]. But running nightlies without backup is no doubt very stupid once you're aware of what has happened before in the Firefox world.
It's important to note that not everyone will get the same bugs. People use their browser differently than others, and you'll hit some code paths I never will, and vice versa. Getting lucky and -never- having a crash or data corruption (Jeez, I wish I ran your nightlies) is a silly reason to suggest that they are stable at all.
Can someone tell me if they have WebSockets enabled? Type that in your address bar and press enter:
[code]javascript:alert("WebSocket" in this)[/code]
Thanks.
False. This is in beta 12.
EDIT: Although there is a property that seems to indicate it should be enabled.
Entire first page is complaint about the UI.
I love tabs being in the window list. Takes less space.

I said they're as stable as the beta releases because according to the majority of what I've read, they are.
I think you're over-exaggerating the amount of problems due to the sour experience you've had in the past.

I'm not saying there are huge numbers of problems and that most people will have them, I'm saying there's a fairly good chance that if everyone you knew started using nightlies, at least one of them would probably end up with a crashing bug or a browser that doesn't start.
Basically the definition of "not stable". Or, once again, [i]your results may vary[/i]. So while I don't recommend people use them, I understand that it's like speeding - you might not get caught for a long time, but it can happen, and happens to others often.
I speed too
I really can't wait for full version as the beta is amazing.
New Minefield changed the shape of the tabs
They're more square now

Disabled due to a security vuln.

I just downloaded Minefield B13 if that has anything that may challenge the above?
