Personally it's the massive growth in the tablet PC market, with CES coming up Motorola is unveiling their android honeycomb tablet. Secondly is the emergence of dual core phones with the LG optimus 2X coming out this month. Games on portable devices will take a giant leap with more processing power avaliable. Intel and AMD will be releasing their new architectures as well. This article highlights 10 things coming out which look pretty amazing. Light Peak Wi-Fi Direct Lot's of stuff i cant find inks or names for what was on tv
the uk actually getting decent internet speeds
Light Peak looks pretty interesting
Oh yeah I forgot to mention. In Liverpool they are doing a trial where they are using the power grid to also transmit the internet through. Good idea as it works well with homeplugs. They're testing 200mbps speeds.

slight fluctuations in the voltage I would imagine.
Sandy Bridge. I want the fucking prices to drop now, so I don't have to pay with my balls. And Bulldozer and Bobcat aswell, but mainly because I want to see how they perform.
how the fuck does that work
Probably similar to homeplugs as he mentioned. Only, this would probably require encryption otherwise anyone could see your activity. It sounds unsecured anyway. I also had this idea a few years ago Pulses of voltage could be transmitted down the cable. Only I would have thought there would be a lot of interference.
Sandy Bridge. I want the fucking prices to drop now, so I don't have to pay with my balls. I can't remember the exact details.
how the fuck does that work
By sensing a high-frequency signal over the power-grid. A receiver only resonant on this frequency will then be able to get the data. It's nothing special. But I doubt this works well on large-scale directly using the power-grid of a e.g. a town without many modifications. The problem is there is not a that good direct routing possible as it is with the telephone infrastructure already.
slight fluctuations in the voltage I would imagine.
Correct. Here in Sweden (and probably the rest of the world) we already have electronic wattmeters that transmit their data through the powergrid by slight fluctuations in a higher frequency.

Bulldozer, just even to bring down prices on the higher end am3 proccesors. Also can't wait to see the new possibilities of the new source engine in Portal 2. [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline] Oh and Bethesda's new engine and cry engine 3.

Standardized phone chargers will be used this year as well. Shock horror apple have signed it too. It'll be micro USB.
Not so much the technologies, more of the games.
Many games, few gadgets, new consoles , revival of old stuff , new technology . i guess this is what im looking forward to...
The new processer archetectures mainly so the prices on older ones lower
Sandy Bridge (mainly hoping for a price drop on other processors, that mostly being the i7) Light peek seems pretty usefull too, could be usefull for extreme cloud computing or something (connect like 10 computers together)
Standardized phone chargers will be used this year as well. Shock horror apple have signed it too. It'll be micro USB.
finally!
4D

Full 4G rollouts on cell phone networks, particularly Verizon. Can't wait to get my LTE phone. [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline] Also, Sandy Bridge
Standardized phone chargers will be used this year as well. Shock horror apple have signed it too. It'll be micro USB.
wait really? that's fucking awesome source?

4G becoming supported more by phone carriers and phones
I'm looking forward to whatever technology is out in June 2011 when I upgrade that will make a 5850 + Phenom II x4 look bad and warrant a upgrade.
I'm still running on a E8500, 4GHz OC'd so I don't need to worry for a while. Still holding in there just. I'm leaning towards AMD's Bulldozer architecture.
