Hello, Facepunch! This problem is really annoying, and I am continuing to search for a solution: I keep getting Internet Explorer has stopped working problems, even tho im not running IE nor do I ever use it. When I restarted the computer at first none popped up, then one did even if you hit CLOSE PROGRAM or the X button, and then two, and then three at maximum like before. This is really annoying, and before you people say 'reset at internet explorer' I cant, because it requires all windows to be closed including the error ones.
Have you tried looking through processes and manually checking for IE, then ending whatever processes seem to be related to it? Weird problem though
Thanks guys, but after looking through several microsoft forums, 3 supprot posts and about a million google searches, you dont actually need to go into the deep parts of the computer and messing with config like those guys tell you, but heres what you needa do: 1: Restart your computer 2: As fast as you can, as soon as it boots up launch Internet Options, go to Advanced, and hit Reset. DO THIS AS FAST AS POSSIBLE as it wont let you launch reset unless you have nothing open. (Even those error messages!) I would recommend pinning Internet Options in order to do it. I still have no idea what caused it. FlashMarsh, the weird part is tho is the fact that IE works perfectly fine (except the home page wont load) EDIT: Also, I am running a AV scan just in case things go south.
L33t, I had the same issue. This cleared it up for me:http://windows7themes.net/en-us/how-to-fix-internet-explorer-has-stopped-working/ Basically what it says is that Norton issued a patch that is breaking IE. You need to wait for a patch or uninstall Norton.
AH you also have norton? That explains it. Well, the reset works anyway, thanks alot Bebop!

No need to do things as fast as possible.
I feel like an idiot now, Pepper. But there was literally no support saying 'go to control panel' But the reset said you have to close all windows? If you dont need to do that via control panel, then do Peppers solution, people.
Internet explorer has stopped working is an appcrash error and its only occurs when your Windows (OS) or Internet Explorer might in bit of problem and whenever you’ve opened your Internet explorer this error will appear and crashes your browser. Normally this error will shows you some sort of troubleshooting options like this: “> Check online for a solution and close/restart the problem” “> Close/Restart the problem” Or maybe sometimes it will only show you the “Close program” message. And whatever you’ve choose it will end up like nothing or maybe displaying that Internet explorer appcrash Message again on your computer’s screen. Actually there are so many reasons why this appcrash showed up on your screen and I can’t blame on any particular reason ‘cos it can be a “.dll” file or may be some toolbar which conflict with your browser and of course there are more that those two reasons. here's all solution listed - how to fix Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working (User was permabanned for this post ("Bot" - Craptasket))
Simple switch to some other browser. Internet explorer can sometimes be a bit annoying, i have faced the similar problem and stopped using it since then.
