Yeah seems right. They don't weigh much.
Yeah. I never really ship things, but can you use stamps to ship internationally?
Yeah. I never really ship things, but can you use stamps to ship internationally?
I'm not sure if it is the same in the US but in Canada we just use two regular stamps next to eachother for CAN/US mail. Don't they cost about 40 cents each? So about 80 cents. How much would you charge me for the pulled ram chips?
I wouldnt charge you anything. I just want to know how im gonna ship this. Like can i just address it to you, slap a few stamps on and mail it?

I think its either two regular stamps or one international stamp, also.. Below Nanaimo, BC add "CANADA" and PM me for my actual address. Because I feel like a arsehole taking stuff without giving back I'll throw in some money and send it back.
No don't feel bad, you want to see the xbox?

If i only had some ram this xbox would definitely work
Also, how should i protect them in the envelope?

You're CPU is misalligned. Anyways, if you have a spare ESD bag stuff them into that. If not, regular paper envolope with some paper protecting the chips.

I'm going to add a VGA connector to my Xbox. The particular model I have supports some higher resolutions.
My gpu is a little misaligned too. I don't have an esd bag so ill just wrap them up

Alright cool. Expect cash in return.
No, seriously don't send me cash.
No, seriously don't send me cash.
The chips are probably going to get to my house with a giant hole in the middle off one of them lol, it doesent matter to me. They were free. I can see why you don't want cash and/or anthrax in return.
Just in case, ask the post office before you mail it to make sure you have sufficient postage.
Yeah i will, i think i know where some think bubble wrap is and i'll just use that
there exists a console in which you can upgrade its RAM? :psyduck:

Sweet. Cant wait to get them, how long did it take you to take off the ram chips?
I like how everyone rated the OP dumb without knowing what he is even talking about.
[editline]1st January 2011[/editline]
Also, your best hope is to desolder them from another console. Theses chips were discontinued long ago

Like a few minutes each, i have a steady hand and a razer blade soldergun tip
First thing I thought was "I bet a load of poeople rate dumb because they haven't got a clue"
Sure enough...
I hope you are decent at surface mount soldering. You seem to know what you are doing so good luck!

I'm "okay" at it. Its kind of tricky when the pins are so dam tiny.

These pins are no where as small as some of other QFPs I've workerd with.
Just remember, use LOTS of liquid flux
If you have no confidence/experiance in such work, I would advise you to stay away from it. You have no idea how many people complained that they destroyed their console when this mod was initally published.

I doubt I would destroy it, Im confident and have a steady hand. Those people who complained knew the risks and did it anyway.
But have you successfully hand soldered any QFP components before?
Do post results/worklog.
I still want to know why you want to use an XBox instead of any old computer you can find at the local dump which would probably be markedly superior.

Why DON'T you want to use an XBox as a server? :smug:

Good idea. When I get the chips Ill post a worklog.
